JFURYCAT (782), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 18, 2009 Its an okay mix of caramel and what seems like a small mix of nutmeg, coffee and spices. Some bitter hops in the finish but the malty sweetness up front stands out. Easy to drink too. Its a joy compared to the blackberry wheat which sits next to it in the variety pack. blklab2007 (938), Connecticut, USA Oct 15, 2009 bottle poured a cola like color with a thin off white head. aroma has nuts, malt, sweetness, and an interesting cocoa coffee thing. lighter side mouth feel with plenty of carbonation. flavor has nice brown malt, nuts, earth, sweetness, and muted hops. good session level fall time type beer. Bonster (81), Jersey Shore, New Jersey, USA Oct 13, 2009 Draft at Old Bay. Pours an awesome looking deep amber color with red highlights. Minimal off white head dissapates quickly. Sweet malts are strong with a nutty toffee aroma. Nice and smooth medium body. Malts are the most noticeable flavor with their caramel nutty taste. The finish is sweet, not dry or bitter. Little hop presence, not a bad brown ale. Jblauvs (531), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Oct 8, 2009 Draft. Pours a dark amber with an offwhite head. Aroma is nutty, a bit of sweet caramel malt and some earthy hopping. Smells like autumn. Flavor is a little less convincing. Malty with a bit of toffee sweetness and a tiny bit of hop bitterness, but these are mostly overpowered by the malt. Overall very decent. Tasty, but not inspiring. Leighton (234), New York, New York, USA Oct 5, 2009 I though this was pretty solid. Had some on draught in Vermont. Poured a lovely, light amber-brown with a fine head. Aroma of sweet malts. Flavor was rich with a nice malty character and notes of caramel and minor hop presence. Very smooth, clean finish. Would make a great beer to session. cryfreedmb (112), Ocean, New Jersey, USA Oct 3, 2009 Draft at the Court Jester. Almost has an Irish Red quality to it. Roasted coffee, somewhat smokey flavor and aroma. Good brew. Some other raters say watered down or light beer like. They must be drinking something else cause in no way shape or form did I get that from this brew. Not a great but good. phaleslu (427), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Sep 29, 2009 12 oz. bottle from a buddy in Boston. Pours a brown amber with a medium tan head that starts rocky and vanishes quickly. Aroma of malt, nuts, caramel, and a touch of coffee. Flavor followed suit, with more coffee than the nose let on. Also some hops. Smooth, but a little too watery. Roast and coffee aftertaste. Decent, but I would expect more from a brown ale (which is what the label calls it). shawnm213 (884), South Bend, Indiana, USA Sep 28, 2009 Bottle from Hammer. Thanks. Notes of coffee, caramel, and bread. Very smooth. A good session beer.
