I’m in NJ and have only seen Long Trail pretty recently, but I’ve been pretty impressed thus far. A nice amber, good bit of hops, great color, nice flavor and mouthfeel. Nothing really stands out about this beer, but the overall effect is very good. Jine (896), Nutley, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 6, 2005 Bottle. This is an amber and I think it fulfills pretty much everything an amber should be. It’s not an exceptional amber, but it’s a good one. Long Trail has been showing itself to be a fairly good brewery, and I see them becoming more popular. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 5, 2005 Opened this on a cooler evening at the jersey shore. I feel the chill, that means darker beer, the best time of the year. 12 oz bottle poured dark amber, clear, with an off white non-lasting head. Nose was malts and some hops. Taste was malts and a touch of hops with a pleasant dry bite to finish. I liked it. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA

Malty aroma, some fruityness. Malty thin flavor. Very slight hop and rather dry. Things cannot get any worse....or could it? lagermonkey (597), Marietta, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 9, 2005 Pours a clear brown amber with a thin off-white, lacy head that quickly dissipates. Smells spicy and sweet like molasses.
Taste is bitter hops up front, followed by big rich malt and followed again by a big hoppy bitterness. Lots going on here. Nutty and thick feeling, like syrup. Sticky. A bit unbalanced with the hops overpowering the malt at the end but otherwise is nicely conceived. Very nice fall brew for chilly New England falls.

Very malty flavour with balancing bitterness and some buttery notes. Medium body and strong carbonation. Sampled September 2003. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 3, 2004 Appearance: clear, dark amber hue, under a shortish, off-white head.
Aroma:herbal and malty, not showing any hops, dry, and, well, interesting, in that it’s relatively shy, but betrays certain character.
Taste: that dry malty profile continues through the flavor, never touching sweet, yet sometimes showing a fruity side, cherries, berries, and banana, even.
Medium to full bodied, with a decent finish that ends rather dryly, though the flavor still slingers. Hops were never detected in action here, as if banished from the proceedings.
All in all, a very intriguing brew, drinkable, enjoyable, but not my type at all.
Takes a little something extra.
