A rich and malty, slightly sweet Winter Ale. Skillful use of brown sugar, honey, and six malts contribute to complex, warming character of this brew. Available October through March.

Bottle: This is probably my favorite beer from Long Trail. Pours with a nice off white head and a reddish brown color. Not an amazing aroma, smells lightly of sweet malt, spice, honey. Tastes slightly bitter, malty, with a bit of grass and honey. I’m not sure this really qualifies as a Scottish ale, but it’s tasty.

Nice dense, creamy head. Low carbonation. Light, slightly sweet aroma and malty. Color is a beautiful orange/mahagony. Flavor is thin and not that appealing. Slight bitterness and some malts. Finish is a little dry and leaves a nice roasty aftertaste in the mouth. I hardly consider this a Scottish ale though. Unlike any other Scottish ale I have ever had. Not recommended for people looking for a good scotch ale..

Bottle - Reddish brown with an persistent off-white head. Malty, sweet and roasty aroma. Fairly average, but easy drinking and one I would have again.

Aroma is mild and malty. Flavor is a mild malt with a bit of grass. Very very average. Plus side is it is very drinkable since it is so low on flavor and is so thin in palate.

One of the better Long Trail brews. Pours ruby with an off-white head. Sweet, malty nose. Flavor is sweet with a good hop bite at the end. Feels decently rich.

(Bottle) Pours a thin, almond head and a deep mahogany body. Nose of roated malt. Slightly hopped but has good balance. Above average.

Beer poured with a nice head that lasted and left good lacing on the glass. Good rich malty aroma with some mild fruity aromas and a good smokey aroma. Clear and dark amber colored beer. Nice smoked malt taste with a mild roasted malt flavor. I like this beer the smoke malt was used in a good proportion to the other ingredients, it was not overdone as some I have had.

Sweet creamy taste. Roasted malt, brown sugar and walnuts. Good color. Quick diminishing head. Ahh...there’s the honey aftertaste.
