Dark brown ale with nutty aroma and flavor and a sweet but bitter after taste. Pretty good brown ale, but I wouldn’t want to hit the trail after too many of these.

Bottle: Poured a dirty brown color ale with a rather large head with average retention. Aroma of caramel malt with some sweetness. Taste is also dominated by some roasted malt with a nice lingering caramel-like sweetness. Body is just above average with some good carbonation. Better then most standard brown ale out there but nothing to write home about.

12oz bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a small light tan head. Nose is light woody malt with some light hop notes. Palate is medium bodied with a smoothness to it. Flavor is light sweet malt, toasty, caramel, earthy, and a light bitter finish.

Bottle from Super Saver. Deep brown pour with some copper and ruby edges. The aroma is red winey, brown sugary, roasty malty, and hoppy. Decent aroma. The flavor is roasty malty, with a tart cabernet and brown sugar element. medium to light on the tongue, and pretty crisp. One of the better beers I’ve had from this brewer, and i would gladly drink it again.

Bottle. Nice dark amber body with good carbonation and a thick beige bubbly/foamy head. Decent and well balanced malty/hoppy aroma that carries light oaky and roasty notes. Taste is dominated by hops and ends with an unpleasant paperish and sour finish. Not very exciting.

On tap at Mulligans in Manchester, VT on 3/25/06. Nice reddish color with a tiny white head that dissipates fast. Aroma was nice and balanced with hops and malt. Flavor was sweet with a bit of hops, definitely a malty brew, but still even keel. Easy drinker for a great restaurant.
