Commercial Description:
British brewers of colonial times utilized the preservative qualities of hops and alcohol to assure that their "pale ale" survived the long trip to colonial India. We believe this to be one of the HOPPIEST brews in the States. ENJOY!

Clear golden beer with a foamy off-white head. Pilsner malt and sweet fruit in the aroma and absolutely no hops!! Sweet and somewhat sugary flavor. More like a sweet pilsener than an IPA. Where the hell is the hops?!?

An orange beer with a small white disappearing head. The aroma is sour and slightly hoppy. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel and a sticky mouthfeel. This reminds me of a pilsener, not at all of an IPA.

Bottled: Golden coloured. White medium sized head. Malty and light hoppy aroma. Nothing special. Flavour is hoppy as a good pilsener, but not nearly as hoppy as other examples of the style. Is dry and light bitter in the end.

Bottle: Pours to an amber color with a medium off white head that fades to a small lace. Aroma has many notes from the hops - citrus, grapefruit, pine - and some toasted bread from the malt. Flavor is quickly hoppy (though not the hoppiest), biting, and bitter, then mellows out into a light mildly sweet malt flavor with just a touch of grass and caramel.

I got a sixer of this while I was in st johnsburg,VT this weekend.Got in line to get into Coventry.Had one out of the bottle and was like what the heck is this hoppiest in the states crap! Now I am home and have poured one into a trappist glass and Im thinking this is like a slightly hoppier Harpoon.Pretty decent stuff.Hoppy, very hoppy my ass.Good EIPA though.I think I like this better than Harpoon.

Nice amber color, small off white head that had a decent hangtime then faded to a small lace. The aroma was Hoppy and grapefruit with a faint pine hint and a somewhat sweet side coming through as well.Nice mild malt with a good hop presence some grapefruit and all in a nice light flavor that makes this brew fairly easy to drink without the usual heavy bitterness that some can have.Nicely done and well worth trying again. Thanks go to Oldgrowth for sending this bottle my way.

Deep golden in color with a medium white head. Aroma of citrus, primarily grapefruit with a toasted malt breadiness. Flavor is bitter upfront, with notes of earthy/grassy hops and a a mellow touch of crystal malt.

Golden amber in color with an adequate white head. Good hop aroma and bitterness. Not the "hoppiest" I've had, but a decent IPA
