| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 10, 2009 Pours ruby red with a thin pinkish head. Smells of sweet malt, some rosey hints. Tastes very malt forward with a lot of sweetness (in a good way). Basically an amped up version of the double bag. Jsawyer (286), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 9, 2009 On tap. Poured clear dark ruby, light foamy white head. Nose is mainly licorice and dried fruits. Flavor is dominantly licorice, candi sugar, dried fruit, caramel, lightly chocolate. Way too sweet. Finish is overly alcoholic. No bitterness? Wouldn’t drink it again. tylerss20 (101), New Hampshire, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 7, 2009 Draft at Harlow’s in Peterboro, NH. Bam! Long Trail has been a reliable brew for me for a while, but I think they out did themselves. Medium amber pour, very light white crown. Damp, sweetish aroma. Fruity, almost as a Barleywine, but not as much hop attack. Fairly smooth, and some honey flavor too. Alcohol is detectable. Very strong Am. Strong ale. Nate (2558), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 7, 2009 On tap at McMenamin’s. Mild sweet malt aroma with a bit of light honey and yeast. Dark amber clear with thin off-white lacing head. Medium heavy body with medium carbonation. Starts sweet with light malt sweetness and some golden raisins. Light sugar and caramel. A little to sweet for my tastes, with not enough bitter hops. Meh. Rciesla (3777), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 31, 2008 Draft at ginger man. Pours an amber body with a light off white head. Sweet with roasted caramel, actually just load of malt, a bit grainy, with some light hop bitterness to finish. Weird i thought this was going to be a trippel. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 31, 2008 Tap. Deep amber beer with a thin amber head. Aroma is quite spicy and malty. A fairly prominent caramel and toasted grain aroma. Flavour is quite rich and sweet but there is a pretty significant amount of noble hops. Fairly fruity with a nice earthy/dried fruit component. Warming alcohol but it wasn’t as hot or boozy. It’s quite different from its two little brothers... sort of like a hoppy doppel alt... if such a thing existed. boto (1345), Granby, Connecticut, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 10, 2008 Draught: This one pours a somewhat ruby tinged mahogany. There was almost no head and lacing. I was not quite sure what to make of the aroma. There was a sweetness to it, but it lacked any kind of caramel, toffee of fruits that you might expect with a beer like this. It smelled a bit astringent. There was not a lot of sweetness to the taste. In fact, it had a very dry finish. A bit of alcohol to the taste, maybe some fruits and caramel, maybe a bit woody. I do not think I will be drinking this one again. It just was not that good. Dickinsonbeer (3499), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 5, 2008 Tap at Gingerman- 12 oz goblet. Pours a deep mahogany brown, somewhat clear, nice head at first, dies a bit though. Aroma is very sweet, lots of toasted and munich malts, sharp crystal as well, with a wierd overly fruity ester character. Flavor is also very sweet, almsot too sweet, lots of deep sharp metallic crysta, syrupy overall, and finishes a bit slick and oily with some Diacetyl in there.
