mini growler fill from half time. poured into a snifter has a light caramel amber color with a quickly disappearing off white head. aroma has thick sweet malt, spice from hops, light bitter orange, over ripe dark fruit, candy sugar, and a hefty smack of alcohol. mouth feel is surprisingly light. flavor starts off sweet with a big malted base, plenty of dark fruit, nuts, creeping bitterness, and again some alcohol heat. nice warming winter type brew.

Draft at the brewery. Clear burnt orange pour with a thin off-white head. The aroma is an abundance of malty sweetness. Taste is similar with a European hop finish.

A hazy golden orange ale with a thin off white head. A catnip hops aroma with light fruity notes. In mouth, sweet candy sugar, hops and oranges. Nice and warming. On tap at Vermont Brewers Fest 2008, July 19, 2008.

Draft @ Drafting Room - Amber color with a big malty aroma that is quite sweet with a hefty dose of hops. Flavor is large, malty, and sweet with a nice hop presence. Good stuff - bottle it!

On tap at the Beechtree, 20 oz pour shared with friends. Floral aroma into a dark copper colored ale. Fruity and a bit sweet, even malty perhaps. The alcohol sticks out a bit, but at 9.2 ABV, it’s a little hard not to.

Draught at Capone’s: Aroma of floral hops, caramel malts, light molasses, and light alcohol. Poured copper/amber in color with a medium-sized, dense, off-white head that lasted throughout. Clear. Lightly sparkling. Very good lacing. Medium sweet flavor. Tastes of hops, nuts, Alt-type malts, Belgian-Triple sweetness, and yeast. Medium to full body. Sandpaper and chalk texture. Average to lively carbonation. Sweet, yeasty finish.

Draft at Capone’s. Pours deep coppery, approximating the color of amber glassware. Nose is caramel malt, hops, spirity cognac, citrus. Tastes caramel malty, with hops, citrus, figgy fruit, and mild nuttiness. As it warms, it gets somewhat hot, but the flavors sort of approximate a low-end cognac somewhat, so that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

On tap at Capones. Pours a deep amber with a smaller off white head. Aroma of grainy sweet malts, floral, citrus and light molasses. Flavor was really sweet and malty up front, molasses, dark fruits, caramel, some hops to balance, grapefruit, pine and honey.
