On tap at Capones. Poured a deep and dark amber color with a small sized off white head. Lacing left on the pint glass. Malty. Aromas of caramel, toffee, some toasted nuttiness, roast, chocolate, and oranges. Tastes of caramel, toasted nuts, citrus (again mainly oranges), and toffee. Light to medium alcohol in the finish.

Draft at Harlow’s in Peterboro, NH. Bam! Long Trail has been a reliable brew for me for a while, but I think they out did themselves. Medium amber pour, very light white crown. Damp, sweetish aroma. Fruity, almost as a Barleywine, but not as much hop attack. Fairly smooth, and some honey flavor too. Alcohol is detectable. Very strong Am. Strong ale.

On tap at McMenamin’s. Mild sweet malt aroma with a bit of light honey and yeast. Dark amber clear with thin off-white lacing head. Medium heavy body with medium carbonation. Starts sweet with light malt sweetness and some golden raisins. Light sugar and caramel. A little to sweet for my tastes, with not enough bitter hops. Meh.

Draft at ginger man. Pours an amber body with a light off white head. Sweet with roasted caramel, actually just load of malt, a bit grainy, with some light hop bitterness to finish. Weird i thought this was going to be a trippel.

Tap. Deep amber beer with a thin amber head. Aroma is quite spicy and malty. A fairly prominent caramel and toasted grain aroma. Flavour is quite rich and sweet but there is a pretty significant amount of noble hops. Fairly fruity with a nice earthy/dried fruit component. Warming alcohol but it wasn’t as hot or boozy. It’s quite different from its two little brothers... sort of like a hoppy doppel alt... if such a thing existed.

Draught: This one pours a somewhat ruby tinged mahogany. There was almost no head and lacing. I was not quite sure what to make of the aroma. There was a sweetness to it, but it lacked any kind of caramel, toffee of fruits that you might expect with a beer like this. It smelled a bit astringent. There was not a lot of sweetness to the taste. In fact, it had a very dry finish. A bit of alcohol to the taste, maybe some fruits and caramel, maybe a bit woody. I do not think I will be drinking this one again. It just was not that good.
