jcwattsrugger (4272), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jan 12, 2007 Oktoberfest-GABF-on tap-pours a thin white head with amber color. Aroma is medium malt-slight caramel. Taste is medium malt-slight caramel, faint hops. brianprentiss (428), Mountain View, California, USA Sep 14, 2006 Updated: Jan 12, 2008Solid Marzen, nothing special or unique but good all around. Compares favorably to Oct offerings from major micro players.
Second tasting about about a year later. Even better the second time around. LGBrewing has definitely improved. beerguy101 (3608), Newark, California, USA Aug 18, 2004 Medium amber color. Small head. Aroma is fruity and sweet, caramel and vanilla. A medium bodied Octoberfest/Marzen. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are slightly spicy. Crisp and clean. Slightly sweet. Smooth taste. Nice. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. CaptKirk (175), Hephzibah, Georgia, USA Nov 29, 2005 I thought this was weak for an Octoberfest beer. Lighter in color then Killians. Started well, but finished to bitter for my taste. Not a bad sample, but would not order a pint RunDWP (203), San Jose, California, USA Oct 27, 2008 On tap. Reddish brown color and some lacing on the glass. Some caramel malt and the same grassy, straw hop bitterness on the finish that they had in the pilsner and the pale ale. Had a rather smooth, almost silky character that one doesn’t usually find in an Oktoberfest, but otherwise, not a very strong examle of the style.
