Pours dark brown with minimal tan head. Very sweet flavor with the raisin infused flavor coming to the forefront. Finishes with lingering sweetness from the sweet fruity flavor. A little too overpowering.

750 mL into tulip. Pours a cloudy dark brown with yeast floaties and a modest tan head. Aroma of dark fruits, black currant, prunes, brown sugar, molasses, and some herbal/floral notes (rosemary?). Taste is a little thin and is not unlike lemon and lime soda (not Sprite but maybe Sierra Mist). The sourness is then balanced by prunes, ginger, lavender, rose hips. Very strange but fun and interesting.

Poured very dark brown with a medium brown head. Smelled of tons of dark fruits, prunes, molasses, and reeked of raisins. Taste was just way too overpowering of raisins. I hate raisins, so this really didnt agree with my pallet. Mouthfeel was too thick. The dark fruits just sat on my tongue and I couldnt wait to have it wash clean.

Pours almost black. No head to speak of. Aroma is all raisins and honey. Flavor is strongly of anise, laying back to a sweet, understated finish. Wants to have a viscous mouthfeel, but it dies off too quickly. Obviously a strong, dark ale, but falls a bit short of what I imagine was intended. A good way to start a night, not so hot for a finish...

A 1cm uniform off-white head covers this digestive. Spices (rosemary and curacao according to the description), gentle earth and caramel. Fair toasty malts, on the bulky side of things with their molasses nuances. Good balance though, it remains relatively easy to drink. The bready yeastiness paired with the fruity, figgy, dried fruit notes make for a relatively complex experience. On this path, it never becomes juicy, remains quite dry and well-attenuated. Medium-full bodied, classy foamy carbonation. Elegant, but not for everyone, a spicy digestive with chocolate fruitcake undertones.

This opaque brown ale poured into a Lost Abbey chalice with a nice tan head that didn’t last long. There is a raisin and treacle aroma that is slightly astringent. The flavor is also of raisins and sweet malt with lots of spices and a small trace of brett. This is a complex brew that is quite unique.

Bottled 0,75l (Konttori, vintage 2008). Dark ruby color, small espresso head. Strong nose of bretta, raisins, spices and other yeasty notes. Flavor has coffee, bread, raisins and quite strong clove/ginger-spicey notes. Sweet and spicey, Bretta is not so evident in the flavor than it is in the aroma. Aftertaste has also some chocolaty notes - maybe it is combination of dark malts, honey and raisins. Otherwise good beer but I am not a big fan of spices.

bottle: Poured dark opaque redish brown, with a no head whatsoever, but a minor amount of fizz was noticed. Sweet was odd but pleasing. Raisans and red wine smell. Very sweet with a very smooth flavor: plum, molasses and alcohol and stuff I’m not sure how to describe. Very thick mouth feel. Very complex flavor and very easy to drink.
