2008 bottle. Pours clear dark brown, almost black with light getting in around the edges of the glass. Has a medium beige head, good lacing. Raisins and rosemary are quite detectable in the smell, along with plum and molasses. Medium body. Tastes sweet and spicy with rosemary, plum, and honey notes, unusual flavors but they balance each other out well. Reminiscent of fine sherry. Slightly sour finish keeps it from being too sweet, with just a hint of citrus in the aftertaste.

22oz bottle. 2008 bottle. Pours a super murky brown with lots of floaties. Awesome sour nose, very fruity with some definite horse blanket but notes of honey and spice as well. Very full mouthfeel but feels nowhere near 9%. Very sweet with lots of raisin and honey up front and a light sourness that leads off the beer. Finishes with a almost saisonlike spiciness. I didn’t detect the rosemary per say but I definitely got some serious spice. This is very very good.

(Bottle at Pikkulintu, Helsinki, on 2009-03-27 -- shared with isos, thanks!) Dark brown and hazy. Small white head. Sour and fruity aroma. Full bodied and dry palate with little carbonation. Wood, sourness, raisin, bit of sweetness, bitterness and some rosemary in taste. Sour aftertaste. Great one.

750 ml. bottle dated 2008. Pours a rather thin short duration head (although carbonated it was toward the flat end of the spectrum) over a dark brown (SRM 25) clear body, it looked like a flat cola....nose of a fruit cake with fig, cherry, raisin. clove, coffee, chocolate all present as it evolved....taste is moderately sweet, with all the flavors in the opening nose, finishing with a cherry brandy style sweetness, it was overall slightly medicinal....mouth feel is lighter than expected, especiallly with low carbonation. I don’t think the Brett really came through. Perhaps the bottle should have aged longer.

The pour is mahogany with a short off-white to tan head that settled into a thin little crescent shaped design in my Chimay glass. The aroma was a bit hot initially, and full of grapes and malt. As it opened up more spice, wood, smoke and thin chocolate came out. The flavor was raisin, wood, light floral and pine hoppiness and some smoke. Didn’t realize this had Brett in it until after the fact. Mouthfeel was almost thin in body, somewhat watery, but it made it easy to get through the bottle.

2008 bottle thanks to kegbear. Very cool bottle with a great label. Real spiced rgrape flavor. A little too much alcohol and raison in the initial taste but as it warmed to room temperature much more flavor began to appear. Real well balanced kind of sweet with a nice alcohol finish. I liked this one.

bottle of the 2008. Pours a dark brown with a whispy head. The aroma is very vinous with grape and spices like cloves. Mouthfeel is pretty thick. The flavor begins estery, sweet, malty, then emphasis is placed on rosemary, honey, plums. The full, juicy body fades to a drier, earthy finish, borderline bakers chocolate. A honey sweetness is noted throughout. This is very well executed Belgian ale it never comes across excessively spiced or sweet, but maintains an aggressive presence.
