Bottle. High and creamy lasting light brown head. Very dark ruby almost black body. Coriander dominated aroma, quite sweet with a hint of raisins. Flavor more sweet than expected. Berries loquorice rather sweet flavor. Short aftertaste. Low carbonation.

Bottle shared with hallinghansen. Dark reddish brown body with a light tan creamy head. Aroma is overripe fruit, prunes, raisin and sherry. Sweet malty flavour with notes of raisins, alcohol, dark fruit, dark molasses, vanilla, oak and a pleasant sourness. Some clove as well. Creamy body.

Bottle shared with Plovmand. Red/brown body with a small light brown head. Aroma is over-ripe fruit, raisins. Taste is sour, raisins, sweet malt with a spicy finish. I expected more from this.

Dark brown with medium beige head. Sweet aroma with coriander and caramel notes. Sweet and somewhat sourish aroma with roasted malt and caramel notes. Spicy finish.

poured on tap at papago a dark walnut stained black brown. this has no head on it whatsoever... weird? the aroma is quite sweet though it seems quite dry at the same time... notes of brown sugar, raisins, flowers, straw, cement and a hint of sourness akin to rotting fruit (in a pleasant way). there*s a bretty flavor and definite tartness behind a veil of raisins and possibly figs, malt, flint/minerals, brown sugar, earthy rich yeast and flowers with a slightly spiced finish. when it warms the florals really begin to show up though there is no sign of the alcohol content. sugar is restrained and does not wreck the show (as many raters have stated). light medium to medium bodied with a slick mouth feel from the low carbonation.

i imagine this is much sweeter and richer from a bottle... which means a re-rate!... 7/4/7.5/3/16/3.8

Not impressed with this Lost Abbey release, but still enjoyed it. Full strong plum/raisin nose with a nice smoky tint to the mouthfeel. Otherwise this beer is a bit tough on the senses and perhaps over syruped.

Bottle pours a brown nectar with a thin tan head. Lots of overripe berries, raisins and a light fruitness. Light alcohol even for the style, with a light woodiness and an acidic edge. Caramel and spices lead this to the finish. Good brew.

2007 bottle, aged over one year. A deep, dark, violet colored body is capped with a compact, well-retained, khaki colored head. Sugary spots and flares of lace move at a glacial pace back towards the surface, displaying massive viscosity. Complex and inviting aromas include freshly baked ginger bread, raisins, cinnamon, burnt sugar, and chocolate. Not stopping there, the nose shows deeper notes of dates, caramel, maple glazed pecans, oaky vanilla, and earthy spices. It really is a beautiful bouquet. Flavors are only slightly less impressive, fruity notes of black currants, figs, and raisins really asserting themselves above all else. Ginger bread still plays a nice role, as does the cinnamon and earthy spice. Charred oak lends a hint of smokiness, while a hint of sour cherry lurks in the background. Medium-full bodied and balanced on the tongue, the ample sweetness is cut significantly by dry, estery yeast, but still shows a bit too strong for me. This is a mighty fine and complex brew, but the big sweetness ultimately holds it back from elite status.
