Murky brown in colour, thin tan coloured head, some lacing. The aroma is very sweet with lots of alcohol, some chocolate and dark fruits. The flavour is yeasty, quite sweet, lots of fruits - apples, light spice, some raisins. Sweet mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes long, sweet, yeasty with some light alcohol warmth. The moderate amounts of alcohol in this became somewhat of a distraction, very sweet. Lacking body.

Bottle: Pours a purplish dark brown with a thick, creamy beige head. Aroma is spicey and fruity, a little citrus and lemon zest. A little yeast. Flavor is malty, vinous, spicey, and more yeast. Nice bit of dark fruits. Overall a nice ale, but not quite what I expect from Lost Abbey.

Pours a dark, dark brown with a small tan head that gives way to some pretty nice lace. Nose is holiday spices, molasses, malt, and some belgian yeastiness. Still no brett. Flavor is similar to aroma with alcohol hardly picked up upon. Palate is actually slightly watery and bland. I tried to save this for a while hoping the brett would open up but it looks like that is still a long way off.

Corked and caged 750. Pours an opaque, dark purple, maybe I want it to be violet bordering on black with a foamy slightly tan head. Close your eyes and evaluate the aroma and you’d swear this was a glass of wine with a heavy grape aroma that gives way to more subtle notes of lemony hops, dark candy and Belgian yeast. Flavor is quite unique, dark candy, dark sticky fruits, tart/funky yeast all on the front with creamy roasted malts on the end. The finish has a touch of heat from the bumped alcohol, but otherwise it’s fairly smooth for those with a refined beer palate. Very complex, could have used a touch more on the hops to round things out and tip it from very good to grand.

dark brown pour with no head..aroma of raison, chocolate, and fig..similar flavor with more of an emphasis on chocolate..vanilla, nuts, and toast sneak in there as well...nice and robust, another gem form this series

Pours a mostly-transparent dark copper mahogany with a froth of spotty-lacing light tan head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel with a touch of raisins and some toasted malts. Body starts with good sweetness and caramel malt with some dark cherry notes and earthy toasty notes toward a drier finish. A nice Belgian strong ale that should age well.

Rich brown pour in tulip glass. Tiny bit of lacing. Clear aroma of raisin and a hint of bourbon. Very smooth upon drinking. Warm and pleasant alcohol feel, not overpowering. Nice digestible beer. Looking forward to trying more from this brewer.

Lumpfest 2008- Medium garnet color. Nose of dark fruit. Taste also of dark fruit and this one definitely has some raisin issues.
