Aroma of ginger, dark fruits, raisins, malty sweetness, tropicla fruits, other various spices. Flavors were a mix of the same. Lots of dark fruits and seems like ginger up front. harrisoni (6946), Ashford, Kent, England

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 16, 2007 Bottle. Poured similar to a ValDieu I had a few weeks back, nice brown with small head. Aroma suggests some raisin and brown sugar. The flavor is not as sweet as the aroma. A real good full flavor that has great malt balance and a really long lasting coated flavor all over my mouth. Lost Abbey continues to impress! grant (792), Colorado Springs, CO, Colorado, USA

Fairly light aroma of ginger, brown sugar, suggestion of raisins. Lightly sour, spicy flavor, rich with EtOH. More ginger and light cinnamon, light doughiness, underlaid with carefully charred malts. Moderate ethanol in finish. Long-lasting bitter finish, but plenty of sinuous sweetness to set it off. DYCSoccer17 (2201), Davis, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 14, 2007 750 ml bottle, original release. thanks, chris! somewhat vinous aroma with lots of dried, plummy, raisiny fruits. some molasses presence with some brown sugar in there, too. nice aroma, but not as aromatic as i would like. muddy, ruddy, dark amber body with a small manilla head and a brief spell of lacing. has a bit of fruity raisin start, which becomes a bit astringent in the middle. roasty malts follow with some molasses flavoring. finishes with some estery yeastiness. ethanol is rather well-hidden. a solid beer that is nicely crafted. too bad it had a really tough act to follow (bells batch 6000) MesandSim (5955), London, Greater London, England
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 12, 2007 A Mes rate: Bottle at the Magic_dave6 shindig at Chris O’s. Murky and dirty brown with a thin white rim. Fruity, orange aroma with some Branston pickle. Flavour is cardboard, more orange and very spicy, almost burnt. Dates and figs and other stuff I don’t care for. Clear alcohol, quite a lot of burn on the way down. No balance and nothing developing. Next! Magicdave6 (5558), London, Greater London, England
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 12, 2007 Bottle huge thanks to dirty_martini, had with the london ratebeer crew at chris_o’s. Iv just read the discription and this has brett in it? Could have fooled me as i love the stuff but i couldnt find any in here. Alround: Loads of ginger, spicey, cardamon and even faint paprika hints, or maybe thats the cave creek chilli beer on the other side of the table? I know this has raisins in it and maybe thats why i can taste them but its very subtle, a decent belgian strong ale, but if your going to put brett in it, get more in! alexanderj (2280), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 9, 2007 Bottle; poured a cola brown with a light brown head. Aroma of dark fruit, brown sugar, oak, toffee, spice and yeast. Full bodied, complex brew. Dark fruit was the driving force of this beer, but it was accented well with spice, brown sugar, and raisons. Other hints of chocolate and toffee. Pronounced alcohol warming in the end. Very enjoyable and well done beer.
