Bottle huge thanks to dirty_martini, had with the london ratebeer crew at chris_o’s. Iv just read the discription and this has brett in it? Could have fooled me as i love the stuff but i couldnt find any in here. Alround: Loads of ginger, spicey, cardamon and even faint paprika hints, or maybe thats the cave creek chilli beer on the other side of the table? I know this has raisins in it and maybe thats why i can taste them but its very subtle, a decent belgian strong ale, but if your going to put brett in it, get more in!

Bottle; poured a cola brown with a light brown head. Aroma of dark fruit, brown sugar, oak, toffee, spice and yeast. Full bodied, complex brew. Dark fruit was the driving force of this beer, but it was accented well with spice, brown sugar, and raisons. Other hints of chocolate and toffee. Pronounced alcohol warming in the end. Very enjoyable and well done beer.

Pours a deep brown with a nice tan head. The nose was interesting, though it had a hint of soy, which scared me. It smelled a lot like an Asian marinade with soy, ginger, brown sugar and rice vinegar that I make. In the mouth, it’s better than that, with hints of the raisins and spices. Slightly bitter aftertaste. A little watery. Lots of alcohol warming. I was disappointed at first, but after a while (the alcohol kicked in?), and I didn’t notice the unpleasant flavors and aromas and enjoyed the rich fruit flavors. Definitely would like to try again.

750 ml bottle from iowaherkeye. Thanks again Joey. Poured a dark ruby brown color. Head was thick and tan. It reduced over 4 to 5 minutes to a tenacious film that clung to the sides of the glass. There was a bit of lacing as well. Aroma was of brown sugar, alcohol, molasses, and fig. Sweet on the tongue, but not overwhelming, with a warm wave of alcohol. Roasty malt bitterness attenuated the sugars somewhat. Full bodied with dried fruit, alcohol, lime zest, and subdued bitter chocolate flavors. Warm alcohol lingers after the finish with a hint of citrus.

Pours a cloudy reddish brown color with a thin light brown head. Nice aroma of raisins, figs and brown sugar. Good flavor of brown sugar, dark malt, raisins and figs with a mild bitter finish. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and gentle carbonation.

Bottle purchased at Hi-Times. Cloudy brown pour....light brown head. Nose is big sweet malts, toffeeish, light woodiness. Full bodied and a flavor of sweet malts, molasses, raisins....tasty. Oaky, earthy, and ultra-lightly bitter finish...enjoyed, but slightly underwhelmed.

Bottle: Deep brown, somewhat muddy, large frothy light beige head, decent lacing.   Big dark pitted fruit nose, very figgy, raisins, dates, with hints of anise and brown sugar.   Very much dark pitted fruit on the tongue, mildly bready, light sweetness.   Much like a Dubbel but without the heavy breadiness.   A little bright, mildly tart.   Dark pitted fruit is quite prevalent from the start to the finish.   Very tangy, even a slight sour note is present.   While you get hit with the dark pitted fruit up front, it finishes with anise and brown sugar.   The raisin aspect is there, from beginning to end.   This is one heavy hitting Belgian style quasi-Dubbel drinking brewskie.   The 9% ABV is very well hidden.   Easy to drink, and quite dangerous.   Recommended for those who like Dubbels that aren’t overly heavy or that are too bready.   Thanks Larry for the bottle!

This brew pours a dark deep brown that appears black at first sight. It leaves a thick tan head that clings to the glass. The aroma is prunes, figs, plums, dark pitted fruit, caramel, spicy, cinnamon, cardomon, great nose. The taste starts fruity sweet, syrup, dark toffee, espresso, roasted nuts, def herbal presence that finishes bitter almost like under ripened fruit. This is another solid brew from The Lost Abbey, I like where this beer took me.
