750 ml corked bottle thanks to padrefan98. Poured a perfect looking deep dark brownish/black with some deep burgundy red hues on the outer edges and a creamy average size light tan head. Huge complex nose of yeast, raisins, prunes, plums, chocholate, candied sugar and red wine. Flavor was a slight step down from the aroma and although very nice just didn’t live up to that complex body of scents. Flavor as had a nice hop profile which I did’t detect in the nose. Smooth palate with just a touch of noticable alcohol warming. Very nice indeed.

An extremely dark brown pour with a thin off-white head. Dark, spicy aroma - cardamom, cinnamon with a dash of raisins. Flavor is much the same: rich and fruity with a peppery licorice spiciness. Very good.

Sampled from the bottle at BCTC and again at Mullman’s thanks to Hophead75. Fairly clear reddish brown color with a medium sized off white head. Mildly sweet and yeasty aroma of ginger, anise and raisins. Did not detect any Brett in the aroma or taste. Flavor was raisin bread, ginger, coriander, brown sugar with a smooth creamy mouthfeel.

Great beer. Pours out dark ale with lots of head. Strong smell of raisins and malt. Very complex taste. Smooth finish with alittle fire.

bottle shared by myself at Mullman’s gathering. Very dark brown, almost black in color, moderate tan head. Aroma was very spicy- with ginger, perhaps coriander?, and notes of chocolate, dark fruit, and yeast. Taste was also spicy, ginger predominates, dry chocolate malts, raisins, light notes of candi-sugar, and a attenuated caramel. Very round, medium-full creamy body. very light notes of funk, but that could have been from the regular belgian yeast rather than the brett added at bottling. Finishes earthy and spicy. The brett didn’t take hold yet, but I still enjoyed this one as-is.

750ml Bottle: Medium sweet aroma. Smells of raisins, dark fruit, yeast, candy sugar, powdered sugar, molasses, and sugar. Poured dark dark brown in color with a huge, rocky, foamy, beige head that lasted throughout. Good lacing. Opaque. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet. Flavor of malts, alcohol, dark fruits, light chocolate, molasses, yeast, and bread. Medium body. Thin, oily texture. Soft carbonation. Lightly dry, malty finish. Overall, complex, yet somehow still boring, and lacking in body.

Bottle. Deep brown with red tinged hue. Limited head. Sour, wine-cask scent. Tangy, lightly malty, but in a confusing fruit-nut mix. Solid. Sampled @ BCTC 2007
