2008 750ml at Stone and at a good price, dissapointed in this brew. No head or carbination which I think it needed, no acidity or balance. Sweetness wasn’t over bearing and it had some complexities to it but not something I’d buy again. Smelled like it might be a sour which also could of helped the brew if it had some sourness to the body but it didn’t. Maybe a flawed bottle? Maybe it needs time in the cellar for the yeasts to react.

75cl bottle. Pours dark brown with a small creamy brown head. Nose is sweet and sour of nuts, yeast, caramel and dark fruits. Medium and smooth palate. Lots of plums/raisins, dark sugar and brett. Hints of cherries. Very nice!

2008 bottle, dark brown color, with a creamy tan-colored head, leaving some belgian laces, yeasty, bretty, funky sour, toasted, caramelized malt nose, with some barnyard, leathery, fruity raisiny datey accents, with some hints of spicy nutmeg, coriander, liquorice, rosemary, with a sour green apple aroma follows through a full-bodied palate with a yeasty, bretty, funky, tart, toasted, caramelized malt character, with some musty, dusty, barnyard, fruity raisiny, chocolatey flavors, with a wet oaky accent, with some nice spicy hints of rosemary, dandelion leafiness, within a warmth mouthfeel, leading towards a warming, malty, chocolatey, raisiny, sour apple, faint hop leafy bitterness finish.

On tap at Papago. Pours a midnight black with a light tan head. Nose is sour dark fruits, light spice and yeast . Taste is bretty dark fruits, some cocoa, yeast and alcohol. Much more funk than I expected. Medium prickly mouth feel. Decent stuff.

Bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. This Belgian Strong had an overwhelming taste of dark fruit (mainly raisins) and some limited spice. It was a very smooth and enjoyable brew.

Bottle. High and creamy lasting light brown head. Very dark ruby almost black body. Coriander dominated aroma, quite sweet with a hint of raisins. Flavor more sweet than expected. Berries loquorice rather sweet flavor. Short aftertaste. Low carbonation.
