Large creamy beige head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Light cloudy amber-light brown color. Aroma of barnyard, sour apple, Brett like, fruit, wood. Over the palate came strong sour notes of fruit and some underlying sweet fruit. Medium bodied with an average carbonation and dry texture. Moderated sour flavor with good counter sweetness. Sour spicy and fruity finish with an average duration.

The bartender opened one of these for us and shared it with everyone at the bar. Very thoughtful. Nice caramel color, the aroma is sour malt. The taste is incredibly complex and interesting. Creamy yet sour with a sharp bite. Some caramel in the flavor. Totally unique. Very good would buy again Ibrew2or3 (2766), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 3, 2008 I was able to reserve this bottle by attending the Lost Abbey 1st Annual Barrel Tasting event on Aug. 25, 2007. Pours clear amber with thin tan head. The aroma is big and bold with fruity raspberries, red wine grapes mixed with oak, tartness from red wine tannins and berry tartness and a hint of yeasty spice. The taste starts with a load of notes hitting all at once with fruity apple, raspberry mixed with red wine. The taste dries out toward midway with red wine tannins and fruity tartness leading to fresh oak. The mild tartness and tannins grow into the finish. Well underneath I get notes of the beer base with caramel sweetness, fruit cake and yeasty spice. frankenstein (64), Livermore, California, USA
