Bottled, thanks cquiroga! Cloudy dark amber with very lively but brief head. Floral vinous and oaky nose with some higher alcohols. Fresh and lively with notes of cherry. dark chocolate and peppery alcohol. Feesl surprisingly light for it’s size, due to it’s liveliness. Complex but non-assaulting. Excellent!

Bottled, courtesy of omhper. Il really love Lost Abbey and Port Brewing incredible beers but this didn’t lived up to my high expectations. Pours out a in a hazy dark brown colour with a thick beige head. Yeasty aroma of cocoa, black cherries, black pepper, nuts and roasted malts. Medium-bodied with not so well-integrated flavours of cherry-skins, red berries, nuts, licorice and black pepper. Cant find a solid malt foundation to let all those flavours to blend successfully. Dried fruit, cherry-skins, yeast and, salt, licorice in the aftertaste. Well-made but could have been much better.

Thewine barrel aging works well. I haven’t had the Lost and Found but I can only imagine that this additional layering has benefited the original with some increased tannin and dark ripe fruit.

Bottle... VBWT2008... Murky, caramel-colored ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Decent retention. Vinous nose overall with essences of chocolate, tobacco, wood and Flanders acidity. Medium-bodied with prickly carbonation. Funky and sour, yet sweet and malty. Flemish, chocolaty marriage of monk and funk. Finishes tangy, lightly sweet, and then dry. A big RIGHT ON goes out to decaturstevo for hauling this baby all the way from Tennessee!

Courtesy decaturstevo. Clear dark ruby color, very little head. Vinuous, almost sour aroma, smoky grapes, tobacco. Light palate, smoky sour taste, oak, tannins, grapes, and Belgian yeast. A great brew. The barrel really changed the character of this brew, which was already one of my favorites from Lost Abbey’s regular line-up.

Courtesy decaturstevo. Pours a brownish red, very opaque. Thin, creamy, cake-frosting like head, with similar lacing. Nose is filled with obvious casked tartness, and piney cranberries. Interesting. Boozy casking on the tongue, meaning a serious cabernet sourness, with raisin and caramel. Not too bad, but expected more. Alcoholic burn, bitter finish.

Courtesy decaturstevo. Pours a glowing maroon amber, with a medium off white head. Smells of sour funk, tart apples, and maybe some grapes as well. I wasnt expecting this to be this tart, so it was a pleasant surprise. Definitely got a good dose of the cabernet in the flavor. Fairly sour, butnot over the top by any means. Sweet dark fruits and malts made up most of the balance here. Glad I got to try this beer. Nice surprise in the taste.

bottle as part of patron saints ’07....dark caramel brown pour with a gushing off-white head. AG was just a little darker than L&F.... aroma of sour oak, a general sense of tartness, and red fruit.... flavors of oak, tart, sour cherries with a small malt backbone. soft/light mouthfeel.....i liked this significanty better than L&F.
