Sample Hotshots Feb Indy tasting - Aroma is oak, cherry, malt, red wine and brett sneaking in. Pours cloudy brown with red hints, medium head and good lacing. Flavor is initially malty with some dark fruit, yeast spice, oak and red wine. Nice lingering funk I come to expect from LA. Palate is soft, creamy and dry. Very nice example of barrel aging done right.

Atlanta Ale meeting. Funky aroma and sour wineish taste with acidic finish. Good lacing down the glass. One of the several more wierd LA offings.

Feb 08 Circle City gathering, brought by Sprinkle: Muddled copper and brown hue with spotty lace. The aroma has notes of mild funky yeast esters, red grapes, raisins, wood, earthy and a hint of sea salt. WOW, the taste is equally earthy and yeast driven with a tart fruity finish. The brett is noticed by hardly dominate along with a tannic aftertaste. The mouth feel is soft yet deep, sharp around the edges with a dry woody finish. The alcohol is mostly hidden. This is really nice, I dig it. Another excellent offering from Tomme.

Appearance: Pours a dark amber body with a small, fizzy, off-white head. Smell: Aroma that’s quite oaky and almost seething with funk. Notes of dehydrated dark fruits, malts, and spice. Taste: Tart dried fruits, dark malts, toasted spices and a glass of red wine surrounded by an abundance of oak flavor and funknicity. Tart, Bretty finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Moderate carbonation. Drinkability: Lost Abbey had a beer, some barrels, and a dream. Way to make things happen, LA!

Bottle shared by miketd, I think. Pours a cloudy brown/ruby color with a smallish tan colored head. Aroma is oak, caramel, raisins, prune, light fruit. Flavor is spicy, oak, caramel, rasins, dried cherries, red wine. Palate id medium to full bodied, medium carbonation, finished a little dry and spicy. Very deep!

750ml bottle. Pours a cloudy brown color with red highlights. Thin white head that fades pretty quick but hangs around as a film of thin bubbles on the top of the brew. Very complex nose. Smells spicy, with red wine and oak. Tastes complex as well. Tastes of spicy, dry red wine and oak, with some cherries in the aftertaste. The taste gets maltier as the brew warms. Medium body, nice carbonation, not too much, just right. This beer is like drinking a nice spicy, dry red wine. Nice slow drinkin’ complex brew.

Received in a Beer White Elephant Exchange at Christmas (Thanks Sick_boy282). Pours with a slightly cloudy, borwnish-amber body topped by a medium thick to thick head with some lacing. It’s slightly sweet and malty with a nice tart brett funk and a touch of vanilla and barrel notes. medium bodied, well carbonated and a touch warming.
