Pours cloudy brown, with a tan head. Aroma is fruit, oak, malt, and funk. Flavor is fruit, malt, oak, yeast, and lesser amounts of red wine. Ends dry. A good brew, but I wish the wine flavor was more prominent. Thanks to Alex for this bottle.

On tap served by Tomme. Pours a hazy brown color with hardly any head in my glass (I think they were messing around with nitrogen/CO2 levels on the tap). Aroma is amazingly rich with cabernet spiciness, raspberries, figs and vanilla. Taste is strongly rich but spicy wine with some light hints of a Belgian Dubbel added by way of fruits, persimmons, and some bananas. That said taste is mainly wine and some oxidation. Light effervescence, and a thick mouthfeel.

My bottle (750ml) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, tupalev & jerc -- courtesy of kp. Gusher! Pours a murky reddish-brown with an average size diminishing tan head. Aroma of tart and sour fruit, funky yeast, wood and vinous notes. Flavour of tart fruit, yeast, oak, malt and red wine with a dry finish. Alcohol’s pretty well hidden. Average bodied. Very good stuff, an interesting and complex beer.

Bottle shared with Greg Clow, Hogtown Harry, Blankboy, and Jerc, courtesy of Blankboy. Sour, cheery, malt, alchol in nice aroma. Neat copper rust like colour, small white head. Tons of red wine in taste - also sour and malty. Great combo - this one works really well making for one complex brew. Very good.

750 ml bottle. This one was a gusher. Light brown pour. Large, fluffy tan head. Aroma of oak and alcohol. Some tartness as well. Tons of carbonation in the body. Flavor is dry and crisp, with dark fruits leading the charge. Tart finish that does a dance on the tongue.

750ml bottle. I’m getting a little tired these days of Bourbon aged beers, but keep the wine coming More tartness on the nose than I had expected. Plenty vinous. Loads of red wine soaked wood. The smallest hint of fruity esters try to claw their way through the thick and tart wine aroma. Pours a muddy brown with some lighter amber notes around the edges. Flavor is loaded with tart and dry wood tannin. Leaps and bounds from a Dubbel for sure. Some darker fruit notes are there but overshadowed by the barrel. The tannic elements of the grapes and wood work wonders on the base beer. Fairly firm on the tongue with less carbonation than I expected. Wonderfully long and tart finish. Dig it Thanks Sebastian

2008-06-11. Hazy dark brown body, modest creamy beige head. (4+) Modestly sour aroma, musty wood and light touch of fruit or vegetation, that I later ascribe to be at least partly the wine character. Memory of something I can’t place. (7+) Modestly sour throughout the flavour, mild woody notes, fruit, red wine? Rough touch of sourness briefly. (6+) Average palate. I am definitely the dissenting opinion at the table, but this just isn’t working for me today. Bottle shared by Blankboy

25 oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy dark amber body with a very fizzy and thinnish beige head. Pretty decent retention due to the active carbonation. Very vinous nose, there’s lots of dry red wine notes and fruity dark malts along with some lesser notes of wood, yeast, and fruit stripes gum. Nice aroma, but I wish it were a little stronger. The flavor is very vinous as well, there’s almost more wine here than Dubbel. The fruity malt and yeast influence is almost completely obscured. The slightly sour finish does bring out a little of the dark fruits, but it really is minimal. Well hidden alcohol. The body seems to be quite a bit thinner than the Lost & Found. The wine has completely taken over this beer. The really vigorous carbonation that foams up as the beer hits the tongue doesn’t really help the body either. Well, I can’t say that this was really an improvement over the original beer, but it certainly is quite different. This would be a really good one to trot out to for those hard core wine lovers to win them over.
