Slipstream (744), USA Nov 20, 2009 Glorious orange pour. Medium weight malty ale. Mostly dry, but with a gentle hoppy edge. The aroma starts out nice and floral, and then turns meaner. AG is a nice farmhouse brew, but not too exciting really (like most bieres de garde). Some brown sugar and nutty notes. Mellow mouthfeel creates a bit of contrast with the light bitterness. A solid brew, in a bottle that was pretentiously adorned with a champagne cork (that took a while to remove). fonefan (11001), VestJylland, Denmark Nov 16, 2009 Bottle 75cl. Unclear medium orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, fruity, light to moderate hoppy, perfume, moderate yeasty, coriander notes. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, fruity, and and dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20090802] thebeertourist (2774), Oslo, Norway Nov 15, 2009 Bottle from Beermerchants.com. Glowing orange, hazy. Intricate spicy and fruity aroma. Plums and spices flavours, even hints of chocolate. Good balance. A nice Belgian-style strong ale. bwilley (20), Fullerton, California, USA Nov 8, 2009 Bottle -
Hazy dark orange color. Light head and lacing. Bit lighter nose than similar beers. Light mouth feel with fruit flavors and a hint of bitterness with no alcohol flavor. Good beer. NobleSquirrel (1105), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 24, 2009 Bottle from Sam’s, I think. Pours a very nice orange color, decanted it is pretty clear. Nose is malty, some candy and molasses, a touch of maple. On taste, it’s polarizing. I dig the sweeter, clean notes with a refreshing bitterness, though at times it seems a bit hot. Overall, it’s a pretty nice rendition of a BdG. Interesting. patrickfannon (290), Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 24, 2009 Updated: Oct 25, 2009Bottle 25.4 oz. Split with James. Pours murky orange with a thick, white head. Aroma of pineapple, sweert malts, cutrus, clove, and hints if barley. No lacing. Interesting, smooth mouthfeel. No traces of alcohol. Great brew., jredmond (1027), New Jersey, USA Oct 24, 2009 Bottle split with Pat. Pours a hazy orange amber body with small white head. Aroma is slight farmhouse funk, spice, malt, and some sugar. The taste is very smooth, well balanced, medium to light mouth feel. Flavor dominated by notes of spice and esters. dionysus (98), Arizona, USA Oct 13, 2009 Bottle pours hazy orange with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is doughy with notes of apple and nutmeg. Flavor is the same, with added notes of peaches, fresh baked bread, and salt. Body is moderate, round, and soft. Definately a nice beer, just not one of their best.
