Commercial Description:
From the French word "Garde" meaning something worth keeping, this Farmhouse Styled Ale is a most delicious companion to a loaf of freshly baked bread from the oven. Grab a seat on the porch, some soft cheese and a tree ripened apple from your grandmother's old orchard. Relax and watch the evening arrive as the afternoon sun is consumed by the illuminating moon over the gardens. We brewed Avant Garde for you, our friends and families. Here's to things worth guarding over. http://www.lostabbey.com

Reddish gold pour with a dense white head that leaves plenty of lace. Aromas of must and stale caramel malts rise from the glass. Lighter notes of peach esthers follow. The body is creamy and smooth, low carbed. A bit more sweet caramel is balanced by alot of peach and apple. Very drinkable, but just not doing all that much for me. Maybe I am missing the front porch, soft cheese and tree ripened apple from Grandma to really enjoy this.

bottle. thanks Aaron. slightly hazy straw pour with small frothy head. baked bread, apricot, rich malts, floral aroma. medium body. flavor follows suit. Nicely hopped and mildy spiced. a bit doughy with nice fruit(apricot) flavor. The sweet malts in the finish gives a very tiny resemblance of a barley wine. smooth, clean and crisp. very nice.

(750ml bottle) Oakes - Thanks for sharing. Great fresh weed nose. Mild pepper flavour with a good clean finish. I’m liking these beers like Russian River - for the very unique and clean crisp tastes. Very good!

I’m enjoying this beer right now. I find it very refreshing right now. Very mellow and spiced. I would say try it, buy don’t expect anything over the top.

On tap at brewery. Deep golden pour with a very light white head. Aroma of apple juice and corn combination. A semi dyr flavor of malt with a very pleasant mild bitter though good. A bit of warmth creeps through. Palate is solid but carbonation is a tiny bit aggressive. Nothing harsh about this beer. A very refreshing drinker.

750 ml bottle from Plaza Liquor - This was the last beer of the evening, so my notes are very vague. Pours a hazy golden color with a one and a half finger thick off white head. Light lacing. Aroma is esters and light yeast. Flavor is lightly sweetened malt, floral hops, light spices, and esters. Palate is very smooth. Medium body. A good beer.

pours a golden/copper coor body with a frothy off white head. The aroma is a floral, yeasty one with definate apple juice present. Flavor starts off a bit perfumy with a shot of granny smiths. The finish is more sweet apples dipped in a little carmel with a buttery mouthfeel.

Hazy beige. Aroma of apple, some peach, light perfume. Very yeasty, with an astringent dustiness but that fades amidst bright florals and leafy hops. That character carries through the beer. Yeah, not the best notes but I was enjoying the beer and my friends.
