Bottle at GABF 2008. Cloudy yellow - white head. Straw, honey, wheat, funky, flowery, sulfor, flat, citrus, nice hoppy, light sourness, light brett, yeasty. OK.

(bottle shared by beastiefan2k, thanks Eugene!) Pours a hazy light gold with a white head and significant lacing. The aroma immediately reminded me of Signature Ale, with scents of candied carrots, pepper, light brett, must and bready yeast. The flavor is lightly sweet and somewhat vegetal, otherwise the flavor itself is difficult to describe. The finish inclues some light bitter hops and is fairly dry. Medium mouthfeel. Good, but not as good as Red Barn.

GABF ’08. This came off very belgian, super solid. Straw, hay, musty characteristics shine thru this easy drinking, tasty brew. Complimentary hops and fair amount of yeastiness really round out this lovely american saison. I really wish I had a bottle...

750ml bottle. Yeast heavy aroma. Just the smallest hint of tart brett. Orange peel, lemon zest. Decent bready and crackery malt base. Slightly soapy with plenty of cut flower notes. Lavender maybe? Pours a rather dark gold with a fluffy bright white head. Perfumy and slightly soapy flavor profile. Grassy and leafy hops. The bready pale malt base is actually quite nice. Yeast pour amps up the funk, ups the carbonation and tones down the soapyness. Rich, creamy and rather full bodied for the style. Finishes a tad dusty and dry. Hmmm... this one’ll be btter with some time. Thanks Eugene!

Multiple samples at GABF and from a bottle after a post-GABF tasting. Poured a hazy golden-yellow color with a dense white head that left decent lacing. Aroma of lightly funky brett, barnyard, a moderate yeasty spiciness, some soft citrus (orange and tangerine), and a hint of floral hops. Smooth, lightly dry entry with some light toasted malt leads into a moderately funky, cob web-like brett yeastiness with some undertones of soft citrus fruit. Finishes dry with some moderate yeastiness and a lightly bitter hoppiness. Low carbonation. Overall, a good saison, just not as good as I had hoped.

750mL bottle, courtesy of CaptainCougar. Thanks, Tom! Hazed gold, creamy white head. Lightly funked juicy citrus aromas ride undercurrents of tropical fruit wood and hints of farm. Dry toasty wood and soft sour citric notes round to a light bittersweet finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A winner here for sure…

GABF 2008. Pours hazy light yellow with a small, fizzy, white head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is average malt (cookie, hay, straw), light hops (flowers, herbs), heavy yeast (horse blanket, barnyard, earth) with notes of spiced pear and wood. Medium bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.
