Some gueuze funk. White grape skin. Definite tartness. A touch of barnyard funk, but more tart than funky. Loads of wild yeast tartness. Pours bright, hazy gold with virtually no head to speak of. Almost still looking. Tart, sour and very pleasant on the tongue. Slightly minerally and gravelly almost along the lines of a Sauvignon Blanc. A light malt base behind the cheesy funk. Very lengthy tart and cheesy finish. Lush and creamy on the tongue without being overbearing. Quite nice. Thanks a ton Zac! hellomynameis (794), Mayer, Minnesota, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 8, 2008 Straw coloured and a little bit murky with a thin ring of white head. Aroma is funk and sour with some grainy grassy field. My god there is a ton going on in the flavour. I honestly am not even sure what to say, sour all over with a lot of mustyness and funk. Very much a sour beer with some feelings of other styles going on with a long dry white wine like finish. Jayb0 (752), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 21, 2008 Part of the incredible line up at Monk’s Lost Abbey dinner. Excellent beer, tart and mildy funky on the nose, tart and estery both coming together and showing just enough restraint. Thomme and LA have mastered the interplay of flavors and providing intracate but drinkable beers. railcat1 (581), Orlando, Florida, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Feb 14, 2008 Bottle. Sampled at Monk’s Cafe Lost Abbey Dinner 2/12/08. When I arrived at Monks for the dinner and saw this beer on the menu, I was incredibly excited. I thought I’d never get to sample this beer; leave it to Monks to prove me wrong!
Pours transparent golden, capped with a minimal off-white head. Nose is tart, with some wild yeast, citrus, and some earthy and herbal notes. Aroma is a bit restrained, and not over-the-top funky. Flavor is tart, with some citrus, grass, wild yeast, tropical fruit and white grape notes adding complexity. Lively carbonation. Finish is long and primarily lactic. This is really well crafted and seems to emphasize some of the more subtle character of American sour ales, rather that going for intense, mouth puckering tartness. Another all-star performance from Lost Abbey!

Lambic-like nice with horseblanket, hay, lots of fruit-lemon, melon, green grapes, orange peel and cobwebs. The flavor is lightly sweet, moderately tart with lots of fresh citrus-oranges, lime, tangerine, red grapefruit, cotton candy, pale malts, grape skins and a dry oakiness at the end. Body is hazy light to medium yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly yeasty (barnyard), with notes of lemon zest, sour apple, pepper, clove.
Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation.
Quite enjoyable. Reminds me of Sanctification and others in that vein, and you can’t really have too many of these kinds of beers if they’re done well. And this one certainly is.
