Pours a very hazy and opaque golden with a creamy head that leaves a curtain of lacework. Fresh, sharp Brett aroma. Medium body with very dry vinegary notes and a dry, lightly bitter and sourish finish. A very decent beer, but not really on par with the very best Belgian sours - and yeah, I know this technically isnt a sour. 221108 nightrider (376), encinitas, California, USA

Bottle [courtesy of Kim, thanks buddy] Great looking large fin foamy head that really lasted. Hazy golden color. Excellent display of lacework. Lovely and quite complex aroma of sour fruit, barnyard, vinegar, citrus. Over the palate came Brett, dry wood and again sour fruity and citrus like notes. Full bodied with an average carbonation and very dry texture. Moderated acidic flavor with good counter sweetness. Lingering vinegar and fruity finish. trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 20, 2008 A rare beer that lives up to its reputation. Pours hazy gold with an oily white ring. Lovely perfume nose, sour mash, brett, and butter. Quite sour up front with a rhubarb flavor. The sour slowly turns into a buttery dinner roll. Tannins and oak along with a bit of cheese show up, too. Very acidic at first, but mellows into a nicely vinuous beer. LaMichael (4999), Colorado, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 13, 2008 Updated: Mar 31, 2009750ml bottle, 2008. A careful and slow pour yields a honey colored beer with barely a slight haze and little to no head, appearing in the glass as a still lambic typical will, but a small head can easily be swirled up with a few shakes. Intensely wonderful nose of eggy, resinous pinot noir grapes, overripe and souring peach pulp and lactic acid (medium to heavy). Flavor is properly prickly and sour, the acidic is mostly lactic. Begins with some pinot barrel notes, dry and tannic. Pillowy and soft on the palate at the same time as being prickly and sour, not intense, but just enough to satisfy. Rich, frothy, a wee bit slimy (thankfully not as slimy/filmy as Isabelle Proximus). Worthy of high marks. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA

Tons of apple and lemon citrus in this nose and the appearance is lighter than I expected. This is no Oud Bruin. Hazy light amber with a small foamy ring. As I mentioned the nose is apple and citrus but also some bananna and clove with some funky cheese and oak. Very complex nose. Flavor is really great, almost as good as the Deviation. Apple, peach, black pepper, vanilla and caramel. Very complex. One of my favorite beers, this was a real treat. It was my friends favorite of the tasting as well. thickfreakness (130), AUSTIN, Texas, USA
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Oct 8, 2008 Thanks to cloudskipper for this Batch 2 bottle. Shared with bgramer last night. Pours bubbly hazy yellow with a small layer of foam on top. Aroma begins with green apples, lemon and barnyard; pineapple, wood, light banana, cobweb; musty and more funky as it warmed up. Flavor was lots of green apple, tart grapes, lemon, subtle funk at beginning; slight oaky tannins, banana, and a slight alcohol bite as it warmed; slight corn in after taste. As it got completely to room temp it was like juicy ripe pineapple and got more sweet overall. It coats the mouth with tingly bubbles and leaves a lasting impression on the palate. I absolutely loved this one; it had so many layers and subtle flavors/smells. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 5, 2008 Batch 1. Bottle generously shared by mreusch. Pours a cloudy Tang-orange with virtually no head, just a tiny ring of white bubbles clinging to the edge of the glass. The nose is a pleasant, tart citric sourness. Light to medium-bodied and slick with a tart finish that rolls into a bit of acidity, hitting the chest like mild heartburn. Mildly tart citrus with a touch of cardboard. I’m thinking that this bottle may have been a tad past its prime, but overall, this is a pretty drinkable sour. Thanks again for sharing this with us, Matt.
