Commercial Description:
For centuries Venetians lightened the dark of winter with an elaborate upending of social order. In donning a disguise for Carnevale, for one night a pauper could become a prince, a learned man a fool, a proper lady a passionate lover...and no one would be the wiser. This beer is our tribute to that grand celebration of the unexpected. A Saison-style blonde ale with American hops and... well, thats all you really need to know. Now put on your mask, raise your glass, and toast to the magic of a winter’s night mystery. Le Carnevale!

Bottle from South Bay Drug. Orange gold pour with a creamy 3-finger white head. Aromas of oranges and lighter fruits like apricot and cherries or raspberries. A good funk arises as the head slowly collapses. Medium plus body with creamy smooth carbonation. There is kandi, citrus, berry and something like noble hop grassiness. It seems sweet, but then you realize it’s very dry. The funk is rather mild, but certainly is the major interest, right next to the hop. There’s also some clovey yeast spice which is more noticeable toward the finish. It is quite drinkable and most excellent.

Poured from a 750ml caged and corked bottle and served in a tulip. This poured a hazy golden orange with a two-finger thick head of off-white foam that slowly faded into a ring. Excellent lacing. The aroma included lemon zest, oranges, sugary fruits and berries, and also some corriander and light spice. The flavor was dry, moderately bitter, and quick to finish. Notes of orange, lemon, and pear provided a light sweetness that was abrubtly cut of by the hops and dryness. Some lightly spicy yeast also comes through. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied and had light, tingly carbonation. A decent saison. Highly drinkable, but not amazing.

750ml bottle courtesy of numbeercruncher. nice hazy orange color with a filmy white head. Smells rustic and reminds me of red barn. Taste is very similar to red Barn with a candy sweetness to it. Decent beer but after having Ne Goien this just doesn’t do it for me. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 11-27-2008 03:41:51

A dry saison. Moderate fruit and yeast in the flavor. Aroma has some spice and wild yeast. It is just a little sour. One of the better beers I have had from Lost Abbey.

Bottle shared with AgentSteve. In the smell it get just a little brett, but cream corn dominates the nose. Starts bitter but ends on a sweet note. Like a good saison, this is full of spices and flavors. Ands on a nice spicy flavor.

750ml corked and caged, thanks to secret santa ’08. Pours a hazy yellow/orange with a 1 inch white head, that doesnt last too long. Aromas of spice, corriander, yeast, slight hop presence, banana, and clove. Flavors are very much the same. Light to medium bodied with nice carbonation.

25 oz bottle. Pours a clear gold body with a nice frothy billowy white head. Lots of heavy lacing left. Nice honey and wheat nose with touches of yeast and farmhouse funk. A little perfumy hoppiness. Very refreshing yet soft flavor with wheat, yeast, and a little honey sweetness. A little bit of yeast derived spiciness on the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a little too much thickness and doughy stickiness on the finish for a Saison. Nice soft carbonation. Pretty decent, but a bit too heavy for the style to me.
