Flavor is heavily spiced, with some fruits and farmhouse. Overall, it’s a pleasant beer, but really doesn’t compare to Belgians. scoobyluv (486), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 27, 2008 Fairly clear gold colour with a fizzy tall white head. Clove and pepper with a bit of yeast aroma. Thinner flavour but very nice, grainy with light malts. Some spices, light pepper and clove again. Semi effervescent and refreshing. Not on the top of my list but I do enjoy it quite a bit. Rciesla (3750), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 26, 2008 Corked bottle and served in my big ole Karmeliet glass:
Mostly clean golden hue with a lasting fizzy head and streaky lace. The nose detects classic herbal and floral spices of cardamom, ginger, clove, and pepper along with banana and tangerine esters, wheat and biscuity kiln malts, candi sugar and honey, and a hint of snappy bitter hops. The taste starts acidic and mildly bitter before the pale malt and wheat kicks in. Spicy but never overpowering allows the yeast character to shine. Almost woody like tannic finish and some very muted funk to boot. The mouth feel is sprite and lively and very refreshing as fits the best of the genre.
I am digging this more and more with each sip, a wonderful take on the style. Clearly American but never more than one step away from it’s southern Belgium roots. Get ya some, NOW! SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 26, 2008 This poured golden in color with orange overtones and a fluffy white head. The nose immediately showed off bread dough and spice along with banana, bubble gum and some florals. In the mouth this was light and crisp with lots of refreshing carbonation. The flavors were not as dense as the nose suggested and showed a bit of funk toward the finish.
