Commercial Description:
For centuries Venetians lightened the dark of winter with an elaborate upending of social order. In donning a disguise for Carnevale, for one night a pauper could become a prince, a learned man a fool, a proper lady a passionate lover...and no one would be the wiser. This beer is our tribute to that grand celebration of the unexpected. A Saison-style blonde ale with American hops and... well, thats all you really need to know. Now put on your mask, raise your glass, and toast to the magic of a winter’s night mystery. Le Carnevale!

This poured golden in color with orange overtones and a fluffy white head. The nose immediately showed off bread dough and spice along with banana, bubble gum and some florals. In the mouth this was light and crisp with lots of refreshing carbonation. The flavors were not as dense as the nose suggested and showed a bit of funk toward the finish.

Thanks to WeeheavySD for this one. Pours out a cloudy golden/light orange color with a moderate white head. Aroma of some clove, banana, yeast and some citrus funk. Taste is complex, nice mouthfeel with some clove banana, yeast and some citrus notes. Refreshing and drinkable, notes of citrus and some earthy funk on the finish. Nice beer

750ml bottle. Cheesy, yeasty with a good dose of citrus on the nose. An underlying earthiness. Pours a hazy orange/yellow with a pillowy soft white head. Quite floral on the tongue. A nice dose of creamy yeasty spice and zesty hops. Highly drinkable. Creamy and incredibly soft mouth feel. Finishes with a light dose of yeasty funk. Incredible summer beer. Insanely quaffable. Thanks Alan!

Cloudy light gold color with a White head. Aromas of sweet malt, floral hops, and yeast. Flavor is a nice combination of citrus, spice, and bready yeast. Finish is smooth and slightly bitter, leaving a refreshing taste on the palate.

Nice aroma of citrus peel and spices blended with floral hops. Flavor is rich and hoppy with just enough sweetness to balance it out. Great stuff.

My Bottom Line:
The spicy, citrusy hoppiness and the fluffy, graceful softness of this Saison lay coolly with the relaxed straw maltiness to whip up an amazingly lovable version of the style.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam floats atop the hazy straw blond.
-The mouthfeel is so airy and easy to down, yet it’s able to carry all flavors and their balance.
-The hops are carefully citrusy and coniferous, but their American nature is not blatant (which I like).
-This is more drinkable than their Red Barn (not as malt heavy), and maybe more authentic (to my tastes).

Bottle; thx Chris!

(Rating #1711)

Bottle. Blond pour with a good amount of white head. Aroma is slightly sweet banana-like malt, earthy yeast and spices. The flavor is the same, slightly sweet malt, light citrus, and grassy / earthy spices (maybe clove etc). Pretty refreshing, and better when slightly warm, but I didn’t enjoy the spices all that much.
