Commercial Description:
For centuries Venetians lightened the dark of winter with an elaborate upending of social order. In donning a disguise for Carnevale, for one night a pauper could become a prince, a learned man a fool, a proper lady a passionate lover...and no one would be the wiser. This beer is our tribute to that grand celebration of the unexpected. A Saison-style blonde ale with American hops and... well, thats all you really need to know. Now put on your mask, raise your glass, and toast to the magic of a winter’s night mystery. Le Carnevale!

Cloudy and pale. Crazy, fruity and a little bit footy nose. Soft, spicy body, heavy on the yeast notes. Sweet, with a nice kiss in the finish of malt. Fairly simple overall.

750mL bottle, no date (early 2008) from South Bay Drugs and Liquor. Clear amber yellow with a 1 1/2 finger white head, good retention. Lots of spicy yeasty notes up front with some dry herbal hops and lemony notes behind. Flavor is dry herbal hops and white pepper with the same lemon and banana fruitiness. Dry finish with a bit of alcohol, bitterness peaking a little over a 3. Light to moderate carbonation with a medium body. Very nice saison.

I’m a big la fan, but man was this a diaspointment. Like an average wheat brew with a hint of lime. Chilada Especiale?

A btl shared by Suttree I think. A very hazy flat gold pour with a white foamy head. A very hefe aroma that reaks of bannana and clovish traits for me. Creamy soft flavor of fruity smokey bannanas. Power packed carbonation from a medium bodied beer. Very good beer that is a bit odd for the style in the taste and aroma. I liked it alot. thanks Phil

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange with big foamy white head. Aroma is dry yeasty spice with grass and a little orange. Very nice aroma. Taste is similar but a little earthier than expected. Gets pretty juicy as it warms. This is a very good beer but there is a little skunky flavor in the finish that I’m not thrilled with. That’s the only thing keeping it from being a great saison.

750 ml corked and caged bottle poured a clear golden yellow with a small lingereing white head. Aromas of straw, yeast, citrus, pears and spice. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a slightly dry finish. Flavors of straw, yeast, spice and light fruittiness with a crisp dry lightly bitter finish.

This saison pours a medium orange gold color from a cork finished 750ml bottle. Medium sized white foamy head, with nice retention. The aroma is yeasty, malty, fruity and sweet, with a touch of spice. A medium bodied saison. The malts are fruity and sweet, lot of orange, orange rind and spices like coriander and pepper. The hops are floral and a touch earthy. Nice balance. Nice lively carbonation. Nice saison, light and refreshing yet with enough complexity to be interesting flavor wise as well. Nice beer for both a beer geek and a non-beer drinker. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly spicy.
