Commercial Description:
For centuries Venetians lightened the dark of winter with an elaborate upending of social order. In donning a disguise for Carnevale, for one night a pauper could become a prince, a learned man a fool, a proper lady a passionate lover...and no one would be the wiser. This beer is our tribute to that grand celebration of the unexpected. A Saison-style blonde ale with American hops and... well, thats all you really need to know. Now put on your mask, raise your glass, and toast to the magic of a winter’s night mystery. Le Carnevale!

Nice peachy color with a thin head. Aromas of banana, spice, lemon, and orange. Cloves, banana, orange, lemon, a little spice, and a peppery hop profile. Finishes rather clean all things considered, only a little lingering pepper.

Bottle at the April Get Together. Pours opaque golden yellow with off-white head. The aroma is earth and lemon with some coriander and some sourish fruit. Flavor is lemon, light banana, sassafrass twigs, orange zest, and some undetermined spice. Dusty grain finish. This is some pretty good stuff.

The body is a lightly hazy tangerine orange color. A foamy, pure white head leaves sudsy lacing that mostly rejoins the body. The nose is complex, but not particularly well constructed. Chamomile is the first element to hit, followed by waves of menthol, coriander, candied orange peel, and lemon chiffon. There’s definitely some bold, unique spicing going on here, but this departure from the traditional Saison notes isn’t necessarily a good one. The flavor shows more of the same, with a bold and unexpected infusion of nutmeg lending a strange, out of place, dark spice element that just doesn’t work with the chamomile, lavender, and menthol. Medium bodied, chalky and dry, there’s a mild, bretty funk on the very back end. This is a decent brew, but its all over the map and not very focused. A rare disappointment from the folks at Lost Abbey.

This going o be a short review for a really good beer. Its a melding of a lot of aromas and flavors so that nothing stands out and everything blends seemlessly to form a end product that is amazingly tasty.

Courtesy someone at MI Throwdown, maybe SoLan. Clear straw color, thin broken white head. Lightly spicy, mild earthy hops, some grassiness - overall mild aroma. Mild taste, bordering on bland at times, slightly citric, some orange peel. Decent, but doesn’t really move me.

Rating #997. Bottle, thanks to Foolish_Mortal. Pours a very cloudy gold/yellow. Aroma is spices, yeast, and lemons. Flavor is yeast, spices, wheat, and lemons, but not too sour or tart. Ends dry.

Tasted thanks to Stine. Hazy golden pour with a white hesd. Aroma of yeast and some tartness/funk. The taste is great. Citrus and malt with some spice. Carbonation adds to this as well. The tartness also comes through.

This one poured a cloudy yellow color with a moderate white head. The aroma is full of lemons and a hint of vinegar. The flavor is rather sour with lemons being the primary flavor. The mouthfeel was rather creamy. Overall not complex but a nice beer.
