Commercial Description:
For centuries Venetians lightened the dark of winter with an elaborate upending of social order. In donning a disguise for Carnevale, for one night a pauper could become a prince, a learned man a fool, a proper lady a passionate lover...and no one would be the wiser. This beer is our tribute to that grand celebration of the unexpected. A Saison-style blonde ale with American hops and... well, thats all you really need to know. Now put on your mask, raise your glass, and toast to the magic of a winter’s night mystery. Le Carnevale!

Pours almost opaque. Decent fomey head that quickly desolves. Odd, but not offputting, musty aroma. Taste is crisp right off the bat, but then lightens to a smooth, sweet settle that is nothing but pleasant. Complex in its overall presentation, citrus and spicy with the appropriate yeasty coriander finish. I like this one a lot. Oddly, the folks at Lost Abbey don’t seem as excited about it as I think they should be.

The aroma on this made me think more of a lambic or biere de garde, certainly not a saison it was so pungent. The flavor has some sweetness and lightness that resembles a saison, though it still has some funk. A good beer.

murky yellow with a nice looking white head that leaves thick webbing as it sits.one of the best looking beers i have seen.i pick up lemon peel, hay, earth, and melon fruit in the aroma.flavor is much of the same with a small hop finish.very solid saison.

In short: A straightforward but so very nice and authentic countryside Saison
How: Bottle 750ml, from drewbeerme, thanks a lot Andrew. Drank when about 6 months old
The look: Partly cloudy blonde body topped by a medium long-lasting white head
In long: Nose is like walking in a countryside field. Taste is wild flowers. Very wild and very simple, this beer is all about wild yeast. Light fruity notes with no specific fruit flavour coming out. Very wild yet rather clean. Melt in your mouth pillowy body. ot very tasty but very focussed on what it wants to achieve. This beer is as focussed as a nerd playing Donkey Kong on level 37, but more likeable and certainly a lot more wild.

Pours out of bottle a hazy golden ale with thin white head. Taste is spicy but sweet with just a little funk. Very drink-able. A clean dry finish. One of the better Saisons.

My Bottom Line:
The spicy, citrusy hoppiness and the fluffy, graceful softness of this Saison lay coolly with the relaxed straw maltiness to whip up an amazingly lovable version of the style.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam floats atop the hazy straw blond.
-The mouthfeel is so airy and easy to down, yet it’s able to carry all flavors and their balance.
-The hops are carefully citrusy and coniferous, but their American nature is not blatant (which I like).
-This is more drinkable than their Red Barn (not as malt heavy), and maybe more authentic (to my tastes).

Bottle; thx Chris!

Bottle from South Bay. When the bottle popped there wasnt much of a sound, and I thought: oh shit. I figured my bottle was flat. Poured it out, and it wasnt at all. Oh well; golden colored with a thick white head on it. Smell was grassy and full of fruity flavors some spices, and citrus. Taste was smooth and fully carbonated with a nice little hop bitterness. Very earthy and grassy tasting. Downright a pleasure to drink. This could easily pass as a Saison from Belgium. Awesome beer.
