Commercial Description:
It’s an unassuming road leading to the priory. Here, off the corner of two intersecting roads, dedicated monks have been making beer for over 150 years. It’s always been a simple life – the kind that requires they brew only enough to sustain the activities of their monastery In the silence of passing seasons, they pray, they brew and retire in a solitary existence behind the sheltering walls. They live a most interesting life. Most likely one we wouldn’t sustain. Nearby, each summer, the trellised fields spring to life as rows of resinous green cones are trained toward the heavens. Rumor is some monks love these hops and being surrounded by budding yellow aromas and the leafy pungent fields inspires them. Since we weren’t sensible enough to locate our brewery near hop fields, we can only offer this blond ale in celebration of our Abbey brethren and their steadfast Devotion.

Sampled during Dark Lord Days at guest picnic tables. From 22-oz bomber pours a semi-clear light orange amber brew with a thin white head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and no ring. Aroma of light sweet caramel malt, some raisins, white pepper and a touch of apple. Taste is medium bodied, very little carbonation with flavors of caramel malt, chocolate, a touch of apple and some dried spice. Finish has a thin citrus and fruity aftertaste that slowly disappears.

An orangish gold color with an off-white foamy head. A little bitterness and honey in the aroma. Some grainy straw characteristics. Has a fruity pear hop flavor. A nice warming alcohol feeling. Leaves a very strong bitterness on the tongue for a Belgian style. A little honey and sweetness. It is kind of thin too.

Thanks to whoever brought/shared this. Pours a nice hazy gold with a one finger white head. The nose is lightly hoppy, nice citrusy belgian aroma, a little grassy, earthy. The flavor is very easy and sessionable, earthy, waxy/bitter hoppy feel, spicy, hoppy Belgian. Has a spicy waxy mouthfeel with a nice carbonation. The finish is citrusy and waxy. An underrated brew in my opinion.

I’ve really wanted to try a Lost Abbey brew, this was reasonably priced so I figured i’d give it a try. 750ml bottle at Monks Cafe. Huey orange pour. Hoppy aroma, bitter but has a belgian feel to it. Seemed like a hybrid of a hoppy pale ale and a trappist. Very unique, really glad i got to try it.

On tap at Port Brewing/Lost Abbey in San Marcos. Pours Golden blonde and super clear. Aroma of sweet citrus from the Belgian yeast. Begins sweet and complex, but ends with a nice kick of hops. Good mix between a sweet and smooth Belgian and hops. A great beer for a warm summer day.

I had a nice little taste of this at the brewery, thanks to the generous nature of the Lost Abbey clergy! Poured a golden yellow color with great lacing. The beer is largely clear, but the head brewer told me it is not filtered. The aroma is largely of belgian yeast and apricot. A drink reveals a fruity sweetish nose that gives way to a dry-hopped finish. Excellent brew!

750mL bottle @ Monks in Philly. This beer pours a cloudy orange body with a small head. The aroma is very light - with some hops present. The taste is hops as well - closer to a pale ale than a Belgian, but still a solid brew.

Bottle: One of the samples at the RateBeerians San Salvador tasting session. More on the IPA side but still a good brew.
