Commercial Description:
It’s an unassuming road leading to the priory. Here, off the corner of two intersecting roads, dedicated monks have been making beer for over 150 years. It’s always been a simple life – the kind that requires they brew only enough to sustain the activities of their monastery In the silence of passing seasons, they pray, they brew and retire in a solitary existence behind the sheltering walls. They live a most interesting life. Most likely one we wouldn’t sustain. Nearby, each summer, the trellised fields spring to life as rows of resinous green cones are trained toward the heavens. Rumor is some monks love these hops and being surrounded by budding yellow aromas and the leafy pungent fields inspires them. Since we weren’t sensible enough to locate our brewery near hop fields, we can only offer this blond ale in celebration of our Abbey brethren and their steadfast Devotion.

Bottled (Konttori). Yellow-orange hazy color, very small white head. Ryeish, peach fruity aroma. Fruity (peach, watermelon), oily, a bit alcoholic. Some yeasty notes. Quite middle of the road American style Belgian ale. Prize/quality-ratio in Finland extremely bad (30 USD per bottle).

Pour is a bright gold with a large white head. Aroma is super musty with some fresh flowery hops there in a big way. Flavor is lots of Belgain yeast with a strong hop backbone. Some citrus and spice are left on the tounge after the swallow. This is a very tasty and excellent beer.

Bottle. Poured a cloudy amber with an orange tint and with minimal head. The aroma was quite yeasty and some fruit notes, grapefruit perhaps some orange. Beer begins a acid with a grapefruit flavor and begins to become more bitter and grainy.

Bottle... Poured golden/orange with a white head. Lightly spiced grains on the nose. Medium carbonation, nice mouth feel. Big cracker-like grains and a low bitterness. Really nicely balanced, a solid Belgian golden ale. A light fruit, apple-like character for a nice sweet balance.

Bottle. Light aromas all around, with light bread and cereal for the malt, herbs and lemon for the hops, barnyard for the yeast and a hint of apple. Head is small to average size, frothy, white with good lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is sparkling clear amber on the first pour, and cloudy gray on the second. Flavor starts slightly sweet and moderately acidic, then the long finish is lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is on the lighter side of medium, watery, has a fizzy carbonation and a dry finish. A pretty good Belgian Ale, just not a whole lot of depth.

Medium offwhite shiny head. Hazy yellow body with carbonation. Fruity spicy peppery aroma with herbal papery notes. Dry grassy herbal fruity taste with Belgian yeast and chalk notes. Also detect faint lemon, raspberry, and tropical fruit. Mid-to-thin body. Dry peppery grassy aftertaste with soft metal notes. Quite nice, certainly drinkable, but a bit boring. Could use more character. (0.75l bottle, HJ Hansen, Odense.)
