Big thanks to beachbum1975 for sharing this gem. 750ml corked and caged brown bottle poured into a GLBC snifter. A: Pours a cloudy but bright grapefruit skin color. Decent sized pearly white head with good retention. Decent lacing. S: Funky and sour notes, acidic. Old sweaty gym socks and hockey locker room, lol. Not much cheese but some on the back end. T/M: Not a ton of sour and tartness, more subtle in the back. Nice subtle, yet complex funkiness. Not as big of the gym sock aroma but still there. Some light colored fruits in the base that lend some great flavors and a bit of acidity. Body is medium to medium light with good carbonation. Some barrel flavors with mostly a leathery taste. D: Drink pretty damn easy.

Bottle with monster thanks to gorditoabd. pours a murky yellow with a thin and fizzy head. Lots of sour lemon peel in the nose and flavor that are hugely sour. Grapefruit and lemon and all around love.

750 ml corked and caged bottle purchased mail order from Geoi at South Bay in Imperial Beach, California. Cork opens with a soft pop. Served out of the wine fridge at approximately 55 degrees in my Boulevard Saison tulip. Pour is mostly clear golden with a one inch white head that falls quickly. There is visible fine carbonation bubbles descending in a column from the bottom of the glass. Aroma is soft tart lemons, bright acidity, gentle oak vanilla and a nice funkiness layered on top of all of that. Soft, tart, complex, inviting nose. Taste is leathery funkiness, followed closely by the tart lemon, there is a sweetness to the taste that is reminiscent of lemon sugar. In the back, the oak wood vannilla taste is pretty bright, and transitions smoothly from the funk and tart at the front. As with the nose, the taste is soft and quite well integrated. Palate has active carbonation, sharp acidity, and drying in the finish. Mouth watering tartness - makes another sip a requirement. Really nicely done. I picked up on the oak more this time around, otherwise similar to how I remember. (8,4,9,4,18 - 4.3)

750 ml bottle courtesy of mreusch. Pour is orange copper ruby, hazed with a smallish white head that falls fast. Aroma of sour lemon, earth and wood barrel. Nicely integrated, soft nose. Taste is lemon citric sour, followed by earthiness all framed in by a mild oak barrel woodiness. Soft, gentle really nicely sour and complex. Palate is soft, very fine carbonation, really gentle mellow gradual finish. Wow, nice. Thanks Matt. (8,4,9,5,17 - 4.3)

750ml bottle. Pours a mostly clear golden yellow with a nice bright white cap. Aroma is lovely, with a nice blend of sour and acid notes, citrus, funk, yada, yada. All wonderfully in harmony. Flavor is also tasty, with more sour, acid and funk, some citrus peel and grape skin. Another nice one, and oh so close to Isabelle but misses it by a hair. Excellent stuff!

Cloudy orange. Lots of yeast, and immediately recognizable as a lambic. Sour and acidic. Very low carbonation. While the flavor, yeast, and sourness are right, it really isn’t sour enough and for the prices they charge, this still isn’t as good as Cantillon. But it is still a very good, sour beer.

#1800!!! GABF 2009, along with Sexual Chocolate one of the first beers I sought out. Not disappointed at all. yellow orangy pour. Notes of sour apple, bretty like funk, tart sourness. Extremely diverse & balanced, would love to have more. Anyone???

9/26/09 notes: on tap, GABF. I’d still love to get hold of a bottle of this, but for now this review will do. Nose is funky, with mixed underripe green and fuji apple. Flavor has nice residing sourness, an appley sourness that is bolstered by horsey flavors, a touch of wood (but not musty), and acetic acid. Very, very enjoyable, and glad to see this beer live up to the hype surrounding it.

750ml bottle, batch 1. pours hazed golden with white head. the aroma has lots of tangerine and cheese with some white grape and brett. flavors are a balance of sour and sweet notes, white grape, vanilla, white oak. a really clean bright beer and extremely tasty.
