Tasted at the Lost Abbey Patron saints party with my friends, JohnC, WeeHeavySD, cquiroga, awaisanen, bikesandbeers, Ivan, Tomme, Bo, Sage, Ben, and everyone else I should mention. Had 4 tastings of this beauty. Fine bubble carbonation. Lightly slightly cloudy pale yellow color. Great funky aroma. Easy and fun to drink. Funky is good name. Slight aroma of feet and sour apples.

On draft at the Patron Saints party. Amber, funky sour vinegar. Funky is a good name for this one

I also tasted this at the Stone 11th Anniversary. Beer poured a reddish amber with minimal head and very low carbonation. Scent was of apples and mild vinegar with a flavor thats quite sour with fruity undertones and a complex and lingering back end that leaves you wanting more. Though I’d say half of the people we had try it found it to be vial and evil so it’s definitely a controversial beer. I went back for two more glasses.

4th sample Stone Anniversary Fest XI. Funky Barrel, man was I excited to see this. Pours copper brown with a bright white ring head. The nose was beautiful with a whole of lot of sour vinegar funk. Taste was robust sweet, sour and vinegary. Great sour, reminds me a lot of Deschutes Firewood. After drinking another pint or 2 of this at Patron Saint’s Party I have to bump this up a bit.

Tasted at Stone XI Party. Hazy golden amber with no head. Good strong sour apple and oak aroma. Slightly sour taste with a nice dry oaky finish. Excellent.
