Commercial Description:
And so the Three Wise Men set out from the East bearing gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. Along the Way, they follwoed a bright light. The Bible neglects to mention if they brought beer or not. Who goes crossing the desert without beer? How smart are we to believe these wise men were? Since Christmas is the season of gift giving more than receiving, please be a giver and share the Wisdom found in each and every bottle of our Gift of the Magi.

Thanks to Solan.’ This was incredibly smooth. Very sweet appley smell, with light spicy hops in the smell. Alot more fruity malts in the taste. Really good.

Thanks to Solan for the taste. Pours a nice orange red with a thick white head. Sweet candi apple, hop floral aroma. Taste is thick and malty with hints of cherry and a big spicy hop bitterness. Really nice beer.

Poured a nice darker orange color with big foamy head. Aroma was bready, caramel a tea smell as well. Flavor followed well balanced little bit of a acidic mouthfeel. Good beer to try.

Bottle from Snojerk. A full bodied belgian strong sort of beer with a hint of spice. Bottle refers to it as a bier de garde with brett. Get a tinge of the brett on the back of the pallet in the form of some earth and dirt. Citrus, spice aroma. Clove spice and a hint of cinnamon in the flavor. A spicy gingerbread sort of holiday drink that is pretty pleasant.

Murky orange in colour with a lingering off-white head, good lacing. The aroma is sweet with lots of candies, yeast, caramel and bread. The flavour is yeasty, orange citrus, floral, some honey and lots of caramel sweetness. Sweet mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes long, sweet and rich.

Very, very good, which is the first Lost Abbey beer that I have had that I can actually say that about. Some light spice comes out at the end and it works with the sweetness to provide excellent balance.

750ml bottle obtained in a trade with TheCheeseMan, thanks Dan.
Opened on July 3, 2008.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy dark golden color with a small off-white head. Has a malty spicy yeasty aroma. Sweetish spicy yeasty bitter hoppy flavor. Has a long warming hoppy bitter yeasty finish with some spicy hints.

Clear copper progressing to opaque amber as I worked through the bottle. My inability to type now suggests 9.5 to 10% alcohol. Sweet caramel and malts, fruit in the nose, and matched in the flavor, along with some strangely disconcerting notes that resolved into Brett ... why would I ever be surprised to find Brett in a Lost Abbey or an Allagash. Citrus from the Brett. Spice? But from where? A really nice beer and, paradoxically, among my least favorite from Lost Abbey, which is usually magical. No bonus points ... I’d have been happier with this if it came in at 5% like their Ne Goeien, And yet, the hops kept it interesting, and were as intense as the alcohol, and I did finish the bottle.
