and spicy. Almost notes of a spicy bubblegum with caramel undertones. Flavor is caramel, spice and definite buttery notes. Body is syrupy and yet light at the same time with very little carbonation. Not thrilled about the beer. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 21, 2009 Bottle from Garrett. Thanks man. Pours out a brownish hazy color without much of a head. Smell is sweet and somewhat hoppy with spices. The taste of it was weird, fairly bitter, not really possessing much characteristics of brett at all. A pretty sub par beer. It got better the longer I had it, but I think it’s just the 10% abv telling me that. Something I wanted for a while only to be disappointed. Oh well. DTM (541), Winters, California, USA

Smelled of hop and spices. Tasted of hoilday spices that tingled the tongue. Not bad, but left more to be desired. ucusty (1915), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 20, 2009 Vintage 2007. Hazy bright orange pour with airy white head that slowly settles to a single fluffy island. Thick spotty lace. Acidic fruity aroma. Medium bodied. Fruits, spice, and brett. Bitter bone dry finish. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 15, 2009 Crushed with Jakebra. Thanks to Honkeybra. My first Biere de Garde. Funky with fruity, pear brown sugar nose. Flavor is also interesting, matches the flavor but ends strangely dry. Not quite satisfying but in no way bad. Theis (3791), Denmark

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 12, 2009 750 ml bottle. Pours an amber orange with a white head that quickly goes to a thin collar.
The aroma is hard to pin down - sweet malts, some bretty yeast, a little fruit and some spices and bubblegum.
The flavor is similar to the aroma. Some sweet sugary/buttery malts, a little acidic yeast, some spices (pepper) and a decent amount of bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, an interesting Belgian. Dmalone102 (221), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 10, 2009 I don’t use the word terrific very much, but this beer is terrific.
App- Amber with little head. Head and clarity increase as it warms.
Aroma- Cinnamon and sour cherries
Taste- The more I drink, the more the taste changes. At first, it was carmel and toasty, much like munich malt. As I drank, the sour cherry taste came out and dominated. I don’t know if this was due to warming or getting drunk. Ahealthy bitterness adds balance throughout. The bitterness, combined with the sourness from the brett and the astringency from the alcohol, give it a uniqueness that I enjoy. Buy it and age it.
