Commercial Description:
And so the Three Wise Men set out from the East bearing gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. Along the Way, they follwoed a bright light. The Bible neglects to mention if they brought beer or not. Who goes crossing the desert without beer? How smart are we to believe these wise men were? Since Christmas is the season of gift giving more than receiving, please be a giver and share the Wisdom found in each and every bottle of our Gift of the Magi.

Bottle that came in the Port Brewing and Lost Abbey boxes of beers from Phil L’s, Beer Merchants, cheers Phil for the nod on when these beers were in, consumed 03-01-09. Pours dark amber bit hazy with an off white head. Aroma is toffee, spice and fruits. Good bitterness, nice sweet citric bitter bite, really quite spicy, some tangerine and toffee also floating about. The bitterness and spices are actually quite numbing at times. Lovely warming beer. A7 A3 F7 P4 OV15 3.6

Bottle from Capones. Pours out a cloudy light copper/orange color with a moderate off white head. Aroma is of some caramel, fruit, funk and some spices. Taste is complex and well balanced, citrus fruits some funk, spice and some hop dryness all with a little brett in there also. Well done.

Golden yellow with big white head. Aroma of orange peel. Flavor of malt and orange, full bodied but not complex. Just OK.

Thanks to Redlight for the taste. Pours a caramel color with a tan pillow of a head. Alcohol is strong in the scent with caramel and orange peel making a presence. Taste is slightly bitter with a nice amount of sweetness and some lemon citrus to round it out.

Bottle. Medium high fluffy but lasting off-white head. Hazy dark orange body. Sweet and fruity aroma of pears plums and raisins and a hint of alcohol. Flavor dominated by a dry hoppyness with stays for a long time. Alcohol can be spotted but is not too much of a good thing. Fruity flavors in the backgroun. Low carbonation.

Year-old bottle, cellared Christmas 2007 and enjoyed Christmastime 2008.

Opens with a faint puff of air and pours a rich coppery caramel with a nice head and big lacing. More pineapple in the aroma than I have seen in almost any other beer, sweet belgian notes, spicy pungency. Still tons of citric hops remaining after a year, pretty mild brett profile. Honey and bready malts, spicy, plenty of tropical fruit. Thick and oily mouthfeel, pretty hot from the alcohol. Curious beer indeed, but entirely enjoyable.

08 Bottle...murky brown in color with no head. Nose is big on ripe apple, fresh mint, belgian sugar and a bit of roasted malts...medium body. Flavor consists mainly of mixed fruits, apples, caramel malt and some spiced accents. Decent but a bit of a letdown.
