Kaleidoscopic spice colours confound the tastebuds, taking them to cinnamon, nutmeg, grains of paradise and even rye-like hallucinations as herbal hops dry out the finish of this classy Christmas libation.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam slowly sinks in this shiny deep amber-red.
-Yeast presence is quite doughy throughout.
-There is lots of tiny bubbling, making this spicy concoction a sparkling, celebratory brew.
-Light caramel sweetness is present, but quickly disappears into the dry, hop bitter finish.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 12, 2009 Bottle at the “Drink for Charity” event at Rattle & Hum. Pours a hazy apricot color with a thin white head. Nice bretty funk, with dry wood notes. Malty flavors, the funk doesn’t really translate into the flavors as much as one would expect. Finishes tart and dry. plovmand (1692), Helsinge, Denmark

Pour was darker than your normal Belgian Pale. Smell was something I couldnt put a finger on. Smelled some pepper and nectarine.
Taste was really interesting. Was not what I expected. M SamGamgee (1455), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 2, 2009 75cl bottle. Dark amber with a medium yellow tinged head and plenty of lace. Hoppy, alcoholic, earthy, and lightly bretty aroma. The flavor has a good dose of caramel a toasty grain and spices, with bitter, earthy hops and a light funky and tart brett edge. Medium bodied with creamy carbonation. There is a little too much alcohol, but it dries out the finish along with the ample hop bitterness. Brett is detectable but very subtle. Alright, but I would have liked this better with less bitterness and alcohol.
