moejuck (1111), Ohio, USA Jan 26, 2008 Warm caramel malts in the aroma with some spicy yeast scents as well. Hazy dark golden brown body. Full palate. Very yeasty flavor with some sweet malts and a lightly hopped flavor. Spices mixed in as well. Not my favorite from Lost Abbey, that’s for sure.
jake65 (1238), Meridian, Idaho, USA Aug 27, 2008 Bottle: Cloudy orange pour with a large, fluffy sand colored head. Aroma is soft and fruity, oaky, has some tartness, and caramel malt. Tastes tart and spicey. Orange peel, coriander, pepper... Rather intense with the spice. Some citrus and light florals. Different than expexted, but embraced. Thanks Jordan. kmeves (991), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA Aug 23, 2008 Pours a deep copper orange with a thick off white head. The aroma is medium sweet, yeasty, floral, citrus and light spices. Flavor is floral, orange, herbal, pepper, apple and light pepper. Medium to full body, smooth and creamy texture. Finishes medium with a citrus bitterness. BrotherGrendel (135), San Diego (La Jolla), California, USA Aug 16, 2008 A clear deep orange hue with a nice layer of creamy brown head that sustains well. Aroma is caramel and bread malts, a range of fruits and winter spices, citrus hops, and moderate alcohol body. Flavor is initially thick caramel malts interleaved with drying hops on top of a significant layer of spices and darker fruits, finishes sweet with modest alcohol warming. Palate is thick with moderate carbonation. A flavorful winter beer (drank in August!) with a spice profile that compliments the dominant malts and hops. Praetorian (48), Los Angeles, California, USA Aug 16, 2008 Updated: Aug 18, 2008pours amber-orange with a large white head with minimal lacing. The aroma is fruity with a strong citrus overtone and notes of pineapple and yeast. The flavor is fruity and malty with a yeasty undertone and a bitter finish. The texture is syrupy. A very good beer: enjoyable and refreshing with a decent kick.
