Pours a nice clear gold with a very well retained white head. Aroma is musty coriander, a touch of hop, and bready yeast. Flavor is pretty much the same. Fairly dry finish with a touch of fruity and bready yeastiness. This was a pretty plain beer, I though. It really didn’t have anything that made me care to drink it, but it wasn’t a bad beer by any means. grandet (482), Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 3, 2009 Bottle. Cloudy golden beer with a strong white head. The aroma is deeply spiced, vinous and light brown sugar, and the flavour is very rich, very spiced and very strongly malty and vinous. Overall a reasonable very strongly spiced and molasses tasting beer. matt7215 (972), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 1, 2009 750 ml bottle from a trade with Sammy. pours hazy golden with a everlasting white head. aroma of belgian yeast, pale malts and hops. the flavour is soft, subtle and refined. it takes a while to peel back all the layers. there is a nice light fruitiness that the nose doesnt show and this brew progresses fabulously. the finish is very dry and although there is adequate hopping in both the nose and flavour there is no bitterness in the finish. a big belgian blonde fermented out dry. thanks for the bottle Sammy! iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 1, 2009 750 mL bottle, 2008 version sampled March 1, 2009: extremely clear straw. Poured with a large tight bubbled off white cream, but that dissipated completely. Sour, lactic aroma with strong saaz and other pilsner-esk hop aromatics. Fresh grass, lemon, and bitter honey are also present. Great palate, creamy and soft with a slight tingle at the end. Flavour seems a bit off...unusually bitter...I thought it would have been tamed a bit after a year of sitting, but it is still overly bitter and not in the fresh hop way....a bit sweeter on the back of the tongue, but the lingering taste is metallic and sour. I am big fan of the Lost Abbey yeasts, but this again seems to be off somehow. Turns a touch cloudy with the addition of the second half of the bottle, and the flavour grows on me a bit at this point...light alcohol, strawberries, and honey. Bottom line is this...drink this beer at 60-65 F, cellar temp is too cold for the subtle flavours to come out. Cheers! kappldav123 (1850), Markkleeberg, Germany
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 22, 2009 The bottle looks incredible, the beer in the glass is okay. Very complex aroma. The beer starts very complex, too. Spicy, notes of wood and clove, the alcohol is well hidden. Also a little bit sweet for a moment. The finish is a bit drier and a little bit moldy. Great beer!
Big thanks to cletus for the bottle! arrogantb (701), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 19, 2009 Lost Abbey labels are really nice and the artwork on this is no exception. I heard this was similar to Duvel which I had for the first time two weeks ago. This is a nice golden straw color as the label states. The smell is very hard for me to describe but it is nice. This is easy to drink and I can see some similarities to Duvel but I think I like this better because it seems less carbonated. The only thing I don’t like about this beer is the price. This seems more like an $8 beer (Red Barn and such) than an $11 beer.
