Sep 25, 2008 Bottle from Southbay. Yellow pour with a fluffy white head and spotty lace. Fruity aroma dominated by by citrus. Yeasty flavor combined with citrus. Nice dry finish

Sep 23, 2008 Bottle; previously had sampled this at Lost Abbey, but did not rate. Poured a nice, vibrant gold with a medium whitish head. Aroma was nice; sweet malt, fruit, flowers, yeast, some must, earth and light spicing. Don’t know what to make of the flavor. Started off a bit sweet, and malty which faded into a herbal/floral element. Not much alcohol in the taste, although it was present a bit in the palate. Just an ok beer from them.

Sep 23, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Bu11zeye: Poured a deep golden color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma consists of semi-sweet Belgian-style malt with some light alcohol but no fruity ester as I had expected. Taste is a mix between some sweet Belgian malt with some hint of alcoholic phenols but no signs or fruity yeast ester or floral hops notes. Full body with good carbonation and some alcohol showing. I can’t say that this is bad but it is still somewhat short from Duvel.

Sep 22, 2008 Hazy yellow with a foamy white head. Very enticing nose -- sweet and yeasty. Mouthfeel is smooth and full. Light grains and faint honey. Interesting aromas such as wildflowers, honeysuckle, lemongrass, freshly cut wheat, white pepper, and roasted vanilla beans. Sweetness was mild and it quickly faded away into a buttercup-like dryness. Alcohol was hidden well, although the throat did become warm. In the finish, an interesting sourness surfaces gently here and there, adding interest. I yearned for a bit more sweetness and/or malt presence/depth, but otherwise it was an enjoyable beer.

Sep 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours with a yellow color and some haze. Medium size head.Great aroams of yeast, spices and dough. Wonderfully balanced with a great hop flavor profile, some banana and citrus as well as a spicy finish. Very well done. Hides the alcohol really well to.

Sep 17, 2008 750ml bottle. Yeast heavy aroma with bananas and white pepper being at the fore. Some slightly musty sharp cheddar notes, bread crust, pear meat and a random amalgam of undefinable spices. Hop profile seems a tad musty and aged. Pours a brilliant, slightly hazed copper with tiny bubbles rising to meet a very thin bright white head. Flavor is moderatly malty, some hints of candy sugar with plenty of clovey and spicy yeast esters. Banana and pear, slightly floral with nary a hint of the 8.5%. Yeast pour brings out a bubblegum like sweetness and a slight musty dryness. Close to full bodied with excellent carbonation leading to a slightly spicy, but mostly dry finish. Decent, but far from my favorite Lost Abbey brew. Thanks Mike!
