Pours a clear yellow color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Good sweet & sour fruit and yeast aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and lively carbonation. Medium to heavy sour fruit flavor with a good solid balanced sour fruit finish of long duration.
Another very interesting standout beer from this brewer. nickd717 (1344), Palo Alto, California, USA

This sour ale was very good but not as life-changing as I expected. Personally I liked The Angels Share considerably better. Color was a cloudy golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma was really sour and funky with wild yeast, lemon, and sour dry white wine. Flavor was yeasty and really funky with Brett and lemony sourness, oak, and sour white grapes. Medium-bodied with acidity on the palate and fairly high carbonation. hellomynameis (794), Mayer, Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 9, 2009 Light yellow with a medium head. Pretty fizzy, almost tingles the nose with sour. Lots of citrus acidity, like a grapefruit or possibly even a lemon. Has a bit of funk to it, maybe a tad bit of wood. Finishes a bit dry and with a hint of sour on the tongue. Quite drinkable. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 8, 2009 Pours a yellow hue, white frothy head, fair clarity. Nose is sour and tart, light fruits, big funk. Flavor is funky bret farmhouse, tart acidity, citrus tones (grapefruit and lemon), light fruits, finishes bitter. A strong and flavorful Oud Gueze variation with a nice balance between sour and funk, great complexity and a range of flavors here. mspindler (301), Alta Loma, California, USA

Champagne like bubbles. Aroma of oak, white wine, lots of fresh citrus and maybe some barnyard funkiness. Flavor is again oak and chardonnay, sour cherries and a great deal of lemon. Nice and tart, somewhat light bodied and well carbonated. Finishes super dry and clean. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 31, 2009 Bottle. Body-dark gold with a medium ring of bubbles and an island of patchy bubbles. Nose-perfect sour, medium funk, light horse. Taste-medium to high sharp sour, great puckering acidity, lemon without the burning acidity, unsweet lemonade, perfect tartness, low to medium horse, light apple skin, dry. The epitome of a well done beer. Very nice. MesandSim (5835), London, Greater London, England
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 28, 2009 A Mes rate. Bottle at Chris O’s pre NYE tasting. A dirty light brown colour with a very thin white head. Not the most amazing thing to look at. Very barrelly, with plenty of funk and pig farm. Far too much lemon for my liking. It’s almost as if it has some juice in it, That said the afore mentioned sour barrelly notes are absolutely excellent. The mouthfeel is adorable and seems to get better with each sip. That said it just feels like it needs a bit more body. Once I have added a bit of the yeast lurking in the bottom of the bottle it is SO much better. Great stuff but as I said, there is just far too much lemon. It puts things a little out of balance and leaves it lacking the complexity I would hope for in this style of beer. Don’t get me wrong it’s excellent stuff and drinks like a proper lambic but it really can’t hold a candle to the real thing.
