Poured a hazy orange/golden color with a small white head. Aroma was of lots of sour apples, some wet hay, and a bit floral. Flavor was much the same, very sour in my standpoint, funky sweet flavors upfront, with a nice sour bitter apple/lemon flavor in the finish

Bottle from Lost Abbey, and also sampled at the RBSG ’08 Lost Abbey Tasting. This beer really shows off some creativity and intrigue, inspired by the traditional lambic styles. Pours hazy straw gold color with high carbonation. Plenty of lacing that coats the glass with a white ring around the edges. Fantastic nose filled with wet hay and barnyard funk with sour cheese and floral potpourri. The wild fermentation really shines through in the flavor, which is more mellowed in character than the aroma. Lemon citrus, slightly bitter grapefruit rind float above a modest grainy finish. Excellent palate that makes for easy drinkability. Complex and savoring. Another fine serving from America’s top craft brewmasters.

Many thanks to iowaherkeye for bringing this bottle to his’ farewell to Iowa’ tasting. Very generous to bring this unexpected gem. Poured a cloudy light orange-yellow color. Attractive aroma of funkified oak and white wine vinegar. Reminded me a bit of freshly cut oak. very nice. Light to medium bodied with drool-stimulating moderate to high acidity. I tasted old butter, oak, white wine vinegar, and unripe cherry/apple. Yum.

Aroma is hugely lactic, but strangely watery, lots of yeast and sourness, and more citrus and tropical fruits, barnyard. Taste is lots of lemon, somewhat soapy, funky barnyard, hay. Wow, finish is hugely lemon, fizzy, sour, but not overwhelming. This is very good.

Bottle on 11/21/2008 shared with dkacher in the back of a car in the parking lot waiting for Devil’s Backbone to open. Cloudy golden amber body wtih a small off-white head. Sweet, sour brett aroma with fruity notes and light vanilla. Sour, tart flavor with light fruit and woody hints. Very light body with high but soft carbonation. 9/2/9/5/17 - 4.2 From bottle at Lost Abbey before RBSG on 08/02/2008. Cloudy orange body with a small white head. Oak and sour aroma. Sweet oak flavor, light sour fruit. Medium body with moderately high carbonation. 9/2/9/4/18 - 4.2

Bottle shared by Crosling, thanks dude. Poured a bright, hazy golden-straw color with a moderate fizzy white head that diminished to a ring. Aroma of funky barnyard, cobweb, yeast, peach, apricot, and lemon. Semi-sweet, lightly tart entry with some light fruit including citrus leads into a moderate sour, yeasty funk with hints of barnyard and soft citrus such as peach, apricot, clementine, and finishes with some sour lemon and drying oak. Smooth, soft carbonation. Nice beer.

Bottle. Head is initially small, fizzy/frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately yeasty (barnyard, horseblanket), with notes of sour apple, band-aid, and lemon. Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively/soft carbonation. Great sour beer that reminds one instantly of gueuze...bit softer and more easy-going. Good stuff.

Thanks to iowaherkeye and alohaC for the chance! Hazy gold pour with a small white head. Cheezy funk aroma with some lemon. Flavor was lemon, dust, lime, cheese, oak, and a bit of fresh bubblegum. Tart and dry finish.
