Bottle. Pours yellow/gold, with a white head. Aroma is citrus, and funk. Flavor is sour and tart citrus, funk, and oak. Lipsmacking and mouth puckering. These sour beer are growing on me....

Light orange color. White head. Aromas don’t jump out like I’d like, but notes of horse blanket, old barn, leather, wood and fruity notes of peach. Flavor is outstanding, balanced and complex. Not overwhelmingly sour, but a nice balance of sweet and sour elements. Lemon, peach, white grape, wood. A really great beer.

Foremost, thanks Mr. Arthur for the shipment to Papago and ajm for noticing the shiny label in the fridge and splitting the contents. Pours a cloudy orange from the bottle with a light yellow head of foam. Smells of yeast and citrus and tastes like an unripened fruit basket (consisting primarily of green apples, orange, and lemon) dusted with TANG. Way too sour for me to enjoy, but I appreciate the complexity of this high priced (seemingly overrated) seamonster of a beer.

Bottle at Papago Brewery, thanks for the shipment Tomme Arthur! Pours a surprisingly clear yellow. Aroma of underripe strawberry and citrus peel. Flavors of the same - really heavy on the orange pulp and green apple peel. A beautiful sour, but not my favorite sour and a baffling addition to the top 20.

(750ml bottle) Pours a hazy golden body with a small white head. Aroma of mustiness, horse blanket, lemon, and sharp cheese. Flavor of sour citric, funkiness, some hints of green apple, light pineapple, and lactose with a dry finish. Excellent!

750 ml bottle generously shared by mreusch; cool label; it’s an atypical design for Lost Abbey. Pours a hazy, bright golden straw with a thin whitish head. The nose is a bright, sour citrus with a touch of tart funk. Light-bodied and slick, sour and tart with a light mineral finish that takes a bit of the edge off of the sourness. The flavor is a sour/tart citrus with the aforementioned dry mineral finish. Very nicely balanced, this is easily the most drinkable sour I’ve sampled to date. I can actually see myself being able to polishing off an entire 750 ml by myself. That’s not something I could say about most beers in this style. Thanks again for sharing this treat with us, Matt!

Tasted at Cleveland tasting on 8-23-08. Thanks!! Pours a yellow color with white head. Smells are lemon, citrus, tartness, and slight funk. The taste of this beer blew me away. It has all the citrus lemon flavor you come to expect from a sour, then hits you in the back of the mouth and makes you pucker and water there for a few seconds. Nice! Overall this was the best sour of the day so far when it comes to sourness. This is a pure gem.

Light, cloudy, fizzy and yellow. Nose huge on the funk, lemon, sour, light fruits. Goes down real nice, very tasty. Overall quite enjoyable experience.
