Pousrs a beautiful yellow w/ a modest pure-white head. Vinegar and oak nose, brett and dust and cobwebby cellar, an almost buttery hint. Strong and powerful tartness in the flavor, lemons cut with wicked-sour cherry juice over oak. Quite dry and clean, not so much funk, just massive tartness pulling citrus rinds out on the long end. It’s a really nicely made beer, so why I am not overwhelmed? Maybe I needed to swirl the yeast into the bottle; as I reach the bottom, the pour becomes cloudy and the last 6 oz have the rich leather and green apricot flavors that I enjoy so much in a lambic.

Bottle@TheWolf. Pours golden straw coloured with a small egg white head. Dry and tart aroma with notes of rubber, earth, spice, berries, grass and oak. Tart flavour with notes of citrus, vinegar and rubber. Dry and woody finish. Reminds me of when i drank Cantillon Cuvée de Champions at Le Bier Circus in Brussels. Very well made American sour ale. Thank you for sharing this one René!

Slightly hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma of citrus, grapefruits, oak, hay, leather and barnyard funk. Very tart wooden flavour with some citrus. The American oak character is the only thing giving away that this isn’t a Belgian geuze.

[Bottle #11 in the Kolding Blindtasting, 20th June 2009]
Pours clear yellow-golden with a small, creamy, white film head. Aroma has lemons, tartness, oranges and oak. Madsnp nailed it nicely, when he compared the aroma to Cantillon Cuvee de Champions. Low, prickly carbonation, great oily mouthfeel. Flavour is tart, horse blanket, peach, apricot, citric, oranges, light lactic. Super elegant sour - especially in aroma. Compared to the very underwhelming Cuvee de Castleton, this is the way forward for American sours.

After having this a few times now I should rate it. It really is that good. How they blended all those barrels to get this is beyond me. A lovely balance between citrus, sour, peach, apple, grape, barrel, brett, tart, acidic. Great overall sourness that makes you just want to drink more.

750ml bottle caged & corked. Thanks to TheBeerSmellier for the generosity. Hazy 24Kgold color. Thin white fizzy head. Super funk. Lots of cheese. Shame on you Brie. Flavor is super tart. Huge Bretty tartness. Makes your palate "pop". Some straw, lots of lemonade. Can’t wait for this beauty to age. 13 sept 08
