jarspag (593), Los Angeles, California, USA Jan 18, 2009 2nd barrel tasting. "another" lost & found concoction. It’s really just like you picture it - lost and found w/ some bugs... not really anything extraordinary. About as enjoyable as amazing grace. sauceyhops (104), carlsbad, California, USA Jan 12, 2009 Sampled at Lost Abbey Barrel Tasting. My memory of this one is fairly vague so I will keep it simple. Brownish red pour. Very sweet and fruity nose with flavors of cherry and a bit of funk. It just seemed a little too sweet. hapjydeuce (763), Del Mar, California, USA Dec 4, 2008 Sampled at the 2008 Lost Abbey Barrel-Tasting. Ruby-brown color that pours flat. Sticky, sweet nose of bourbon and oak with a nice funkiness. Has a malty, fruity dubbel base in the flavor from the Lost and Found, with a distinct Belgian toastiness. Sour vinous notes of syrah, cherry and barnyard really make a great addition on the finish. JohnC (2220), Mission Viejo, California, USA Nov 26, 2008 Had it at the Lost Abbey barrel tasting. brownish pour, small head. boozy, fruity aroma. rustychiles (997), Mesa, Arizona, USA Nov 17, 2008 Sampled at lost abbey barrel tasting. Pours a nice brown with little to no head. Aroma if fruits, bourbon barrel and rasins. Flavor is funky sour cherry, mixed with what almost reminds me of drinking water from a glass that previously contained bourbon. Interesting brew. Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Nov 17, 2008 On tap at Lost Abbey. Poured a clear amber with minimal head or lacing. Nose was dried fruits, brown sugar, funky sour cherries and bourbon. Taste was raisins soaked in bourbon, red wine vinegar and sour cherries. Very port wine-like. Lighter mouth feel. Interesting concoction that I enjoyed. Tomme said it was Lost and Found with some funky shit added, then aged in bourbon barrels and that’s exactly what it tasted like. Lagunitasfan (432), San Diego, California, USA Aug 19, 2008 On tap at Soone 12th, AM session. This probably isn’t a fair rating, and I’m gonna catch crap for this but, here goes... I was one of the 1st to taste this, I think, but I don’t think that had any bearing on the beer. I was expecting something WAY different, so when I tasted the sour tart flavor of it... I thought it was a bad batch of something, and since there were just volunteers manning the booth they didn’t know anything about it either. I let 3 others take a taste and they were all shocked as well. I found one of the guys from Lost Abbey, and thankfully he didn’t mock me when I told him I thought it was bad. His buddies, however, took that as their cue to run off and taste it, because if I thought it was that sour, then well, it must be f’ing good. The last taste, once expected, and warmed up, was quite good. I think this one might haunt me for a bit. nightrider (370), encinitas, California, USA Aug 17, 2008 On tap at Stone 12th. Anniv. Party. Second beer my wife and I tasted and oh boy quite a tasty one for sure. Ryan from Lost Abbey was very cool and gave us the rundown on how he and Tomme put this brew together. Brown cloudy amber. Moderate sourness in your nose. Flavors of dried fruit reminiscent of Lost and Found for sure. Good sour cherries. Typical long lasting tasty finish. Awesome!
