Huge Belgian-yeast/fruit aroma with some caramel, dried fruits (raisin, date, cherry). Flavors were fairly typical for the style, but in a perfectly archetypal sort of way. Dried fruits (dates, cherries, raisins of course), brown sugar, caramel, some light spices, barely any bitterness. Soft sugary slightly creamy palate with medium-light carbonation. On the higher end of what you’d want out of the style, but not awe-inspiring. I’d take one of these any time... cbkschubert (1966), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA

Nose is caramel raisin with notes of funk, peel and grass. Light carb, medium light, mild drying. Taste much like the nose. Touches of burnt sugar, sage, lemon peel and ginger. Quite enjoyable. axilla (962), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 15, 2007 750 bottle shared with no one. Pour is a dark cherry colored body with a small, but solid, tan head. Sweet, malty aroma with raisins, vanilla, and brown sugar def’n present. The flavor’s not as sweet as the aroma let on. Everything seems to be buried under a blanket of farmhouse qualities and corn flakes. This is nice, I was expecting it to be too sweet. A little more of an alcohol warming in the finish than I’d expect from a 7%. As the beer continued to breathe, the alcohol flavor became more and more prominent until it dominated, and then pretty much killed the flavor. OldMrCrow (1187), Seattle, Washington, USA

Pours a deep red honey brown with a model light-tan head. Spicy aroma with an unexpected air of smoke. Flavor is quite dry, hops coming on heavy and early to cut through the cobweb and spice, chocolate on the finish.
The Abbey Dubbel is not my favorite style, but even within this style this beer is falling short for me. It simply doesn’t come together with anything like the grace I’ve experienced with the other beers from this brewery. JB175 (1663), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 11, 2007 Dark plum color with a lighter head. Aroma of raisin, prune, candy sugar. Flavor is sugary with a nice raisin-date-prune essence. Smooth feel a pretty good Dubbel. SuzyGreenberg (1324), Seattle, Washington, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 2, 2007 Updated: Nov 8, 2007Bottle from Zug4abby. Thanks, wherever you are these days. Pours a deep amber red with an off white head. Aggressive aroma of raisen, maple, and vanilla. Initial flavor of dark fruits and vanilla that transitions to flavors of yeast, grains, and figs. Lots of phenols on the finish, with a wisp of booziness. Not bad. Could use a little more heft in the malt department for my personal tastes. Wife loved it
