yobdoog (1426), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Sep 7, 2009 Dark caramel color with a small head. Rich body as it pours. Aroma is sweet with some fruit and a hint of spice. Flavor is sweet, caramel, toffee, raisins and butter. A little spice. Not bad. Lagunitasfan (432), San Diego, California, USA Aug 28, 2009 750 bottle. Did I sit on it too long? Is a year too old? I was looking forward to this gem in my closet, and shared it proudly, only to see my own disappointment mirrored on the faces of those who joined me in the moment. Murky in the glass. Hints of sweetness and spiciness on the nose. Those hints evaporated on the taste buds. Taste was fruit, candy, malt, and spces, but in a cacophony of flavors that completely missed any harmony. We each had a few ounces and drainpoured the rest. Bummer Parker. drowland (1360), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 14, 2009 Nose is complex w/ raisins, slight esters, and hints of caramel, alcohol, and anise. Hardly any of this delivers, though, in a weak flavor LIGHTLY lined with fruits and hotness... I wrote this on a piece of paper for later entry and my girlfriend added "and tastes like poop" to the end... you be the judge. PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA Aug 6, 2009 Bottle at BCTC 2009: Murky brownish copper with a tan film of head. Malt aroma with apparent raisin, toasted cocoa and peppery phenolics. Fluffy feel on the palate with a dry flavor. Peppery yeast phenols with some tartish green raisn notes and mild fig sweetness that drowns out that dry yeast character. A decent interpretation of the style. j12601 (1151), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Aug 4, 2009
BCTC. Pours a murky brown with a thin beige head. Caramel and malt on the nose. Deep malty flavors with some nice crisp fruit notes. I liked the barrel aged version of this (Amazing Grace) but this one is still pretty good.
doboy (175), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Aug 2, 2009 Bottle Compliments of the High and Mighty Drbayern, shared with the Cleaver Celticbrew, Uncle Steve and our beer pimp Brian!
Poured a dirty brown, cloudy. there was no head to speak of but some edge lacing. The aroma was malty, and the flavor was malty with some hints of fruity chocolate.
It was OK but not great! shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Jul 29, 2009 9/19/2008: Lost Abbey Lost & Found pours a hazy, golden borwn color with a tan head. The aroma has caramel, slight fruit and spice and the flavor is malty, fruity, and quite yeasty with some brown sugar in the middle and raisin in the finish. No alcohol can be detected. It has a medium to medium-full body, a smoot texture, and creamy mouthfeel. Overall this is a very good beer!
1 pint 9.4 fl. oz. corked and caged bottle (Alc. 8.0% by Vol.). Rating #426 for this beer.
CelticBrew (676), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Jul 27, 2009 Bottle compliments of DrBayern (thanks Matt). Poured a lively reddish brown, hazy with off beige foamy head. Aroma evident of raisins, malts and spices. Flavour was full bodied, raisins, malts, rock candies and spices. Fathers smooth, yet sweet. A decent dubbel, but I was expecting a little more from the brewer.
